Peppers at 10, which seems low.
"I've just been good at throwing things since I've been young. It's not a lack of confidence. It's not a lack of preparation or anything like that. It's just a matter of getting back to feeling comfortable and feeling like the ball's coming out the way it should."
What, specifically, isn't right? It was a question Stave had a difficult time addressing but one, he said, that seemed to boil down to this basic concept: He is inside his own head, a perfectionist who begins to overthink one bad throw, which leads to more bad throws. Before he knows it, he can't complete simple tosses that he has spent years perfecting.
"I'll be throwing it good, throwing it good and then all of a sudden I feel like I hang on to it too long," Stave said. "One will sail, one will slip and then you start thinking, 'Oh I've got to hang on to it longer.' That's what happens when you start thinking too much."
Andersen said earlier Tuesday during the Big Ten coaches teleconference that he noticed Stave's troubles around the time of the team's second scrimmage on Aug. 18, which was largely closed to the media. Stave was poised to be named the team's starter later that week until the issues surfaced, according to a source close to the situation.
Even during warmups before the season opener, Stave's throws were landing well off target -- a remark that television broadcasters noted on the air.
I did some research on TV ratings for 2013 season. Some very interesting insight on the ND/UM Game. Last year this game was 5th in overall viewership. I wonder why ND thinks this game is NOT national. ND had an average of 3.92 million viewers per game.
Here are the top 5 games nationally:
1) Bama / Auburn
2) Bama / Texas A&M
3) Bama / LSU
4) The Game
5) Michigan / ND
Also it was reported in a previous post that Michigan was 2nd in team ratings (6.18 million viewers per televised game). Bama was #1.
On another note: Michigan State averaged 2.28 million viewers. This is a bitch-slap in the face of the players who worked so very hard to win the Big Ten Championship. It just goes to prove that no one really cares about MSU. I almost feel bad for the players....almost.
C'mon Cook, some of us have to pretend to do jobs while waiting for and then reading the UFR! How else will we know what to expect from the awesome DL, or the potentially not awful OL? Gotta see some grades!
Me right now: (Sub "burrito" for UFR)
Our long national nightmare is over. And the burrito was delicious.
Apparently there is a clip of the practice video on MGoBlue where it clearly shows Butt running with the ones. Does anyone really think he will get deployed this weekend?
I believe this is the link but I don't know for sure as it's blocked at my work.
To add to the ever-increasing ways UM is scrambling to sell tickets, I (and I assume other current members of the alumni assoc) just got an email offer for 3 tix for $150 ("a $75 savings!") for Miami (NTM), Utah and Maryland.
That's not that unusual (or that great a deal, considering StubHub exists), as UM clearly is having trouble selling tix for those mediocre games, but in addition to those tix, "you will be guaranteed an opportunity to purchase (2) tickets to next season's home game against either Michigan State or Ohio State."
Considering those games will easily sell out without any promotions, that's quite a kicker.
Offer ends Thursday for those interested.
If anyone is interested, we are tailgating on Burke Golf Course this Saturday at 8 am. We will have a nice setup that will include tent, bar, grill, corn hole, Bose L-1's, porta tent, generator or battery power, etc. Just so everyone knows what the atmosphere is like we always have a double elimination corn hole tourney and the winners get two game day trophies. Most everyone drinks beer or mixed drinks. The music will have two playlists. Pretty hard to please everyone as you can imagine. So, we will start a 90's themed list and as the day goes on switch it to current pop/club mixes. Ages run from current UM students to tailgaters in there 50's. You can reach me at [email protected] if you want to join in.
