this guy evidently hired to work for AD
Let's assume we hit the home run and get Jim Harbaugh as our coach. Since we will probably need to give him half of our endowment fund (/s), how much will be left for assistants ? It would be great if he could bring in some of his current coordinators.
Brad Seely - SpecialTteams
Vic Fangio - DC
Greg Roman - OC
My questions are:
1) How likely is it his OC/DC/ST coaches follow him here ?
2) Can we afford them ?
3) If not, any insights on who else he might bring in or promote ?
I would probably wait 2 weeks before starting the playoff rankings but I get it from a media hype perspective. Here is the first week's list:
- Miss State
- Ole Miss
- TCU 6-1
- MSU 7-1
- Kansas State 6-1
- Notre Dame 6-1
- Georgia 6-1
- Arizona 6-1
- Baylor 6-1
- Arizona State 6-1
- Nebraska 7-1
- Ohio State 6-1
- Utah 6-1
- Oklahoma 5-2
- LSU 7-2
- West virginia 6-2
- Clemson 6-2
- UCLA 6-2
- East Carolina 6-1
- Dyuke 6-1
- Louisville 6-2
- Michigan ;) :P
Biggest surprise is ND at #10 with only loss on road to #1/#2ish FSU , in a game they could have won. MSU got blown out vs Oregon for their loss and is ranked higher than ND - ND also beat Purdue and UM by wider margins than MSU so it tells me games vs common opponents dont matter much to the committee.
Ole Miss in over Bama is interesting - says head to head really matters. OSU so low is fun (and behind Nebraska) - they have a bad loss and have not played anyone in the top 25, so SOS does matter which I like.
Of course this will all change in a few weeks esp as the SEC west ravages each other.
Update 2: It is done! See the results in the diary.
Update: Holy crap. I totally underestimated the number of responses here. I love this site. There are already 435, and I can only see the first 100. Obviously this limits the validity of my findings, but as I said earlier, this isn't reallym science. I'm going to take some time to review them and will update once I do.
Reading through the abundance of content today, I found myself noticing some patterns, and I wanted to see if they bore out as I expect. I won't go into it here as not to bias the results. I'd appreciate taking the 30 seconds to complete the survey.
Nothing groundbreaking here, and this survey will do absolutely no good other than to sate my own curiosity. It may provide some interesting perspective on the divisions in the fanbase, or could end up showing nothing. This is the life of a researcher.
Seeing as this is an internet survey on a sports message board, with a limited number of allowed responses obviously limits the generalizability of the results. I am a researcher by day, so I understand the shortcomings here. As was said in the title, this is very unscientific. (Obvious sampling bias, etc.).
Without further ado, here is the survey. I will update with results once the maximum number of responses have been recorded.
Found this interesting tweet/photo from Chantel Jennings last Friday. Obviously I kept it close to me just in case I did come back.
Probably stupid to make a thread for this but this isn't the first time I've said that to myself before making a thread so here it goes:
For those thinking I was having some celebration because the email was proven to be real, that's not the case.
I have no reason to celebrate anything. All I did was hit the buried treasure chest with a shovel. Brian and Ace are the ones who dug it up and opened it.
I'm no hero but I appreciate the kind words that I've read on here and from those on twitter--especially after last week. I felt I needed to come on here and tell people why I haven't been posting since the Jon06 FOIA turned up nothing.
I was pretty ashamed of myself that I was supposedly fooled. I put my neck on the line and was absolutely certain it was real. I wasn't going to post for a very long time on here, if ever again. I was going to stay solely as a reader and would up/downvote like I did on Friday/Saturday nights for Hockey. I was even wrestling with myself all day at work about coming back on here, even if after I read everything.
I'm back as a poster, but I won't be the same as I was before I took that break. I even said last week that life was finally catching up with me in terms of class and my job. But I'm glad that I can continue to give updates and keep people informed about the Michigan teams that don't get much coverage. Along with uniform updates that I know EVERYONE loves.
Anyways. Keep being you, guys. It's pretty cool.
I felt like this was an entirely separtate issue that had not yet been brought up in a sea of 300+ comments, so I made it a separate posting.
But with all the questions about whether or not Dave Brandon sits down with coaches and watches game film... he apparently does (If these emails are in-fact authentic)
In the email that Brian linked as 'Longer Exchange 3', Brandon replies by saying he 'measures the direction of Michigan Football', by several things including 'reviewing game films with the coaches'.
I could be wrong here, but wasn't this in question earlier and something many thought was ridiculous?
