here's one vote for "John Beilein's head in a Futurama jar"
I spoke with 2016 ATH Daelin Hayes last night and he told me that he will not be in Ann Arbor this upcoming weekend for the Wisconsin game.
That sounds like a bad thing but it sounds like it was with good reason. Coach Singletary asked Daelin and his mother to come to Ann Arbor the following weekend for the Junior Day event against Michigan State. Coach Singletary told Daelin that it would be in his best interest because it would be more personalized and give him a better opportunity to get some 1 on 1 time with the staff.
That sounds pretty promising for Daelin and with Sparty having offered already I wouldn't be surprised if he was offered by Michigan during that weekend visit.
I've been working on a list of roughly 70 prospects from the state of Michigan who have Division I potential. You'll find heights, weights, rankings, 40 times, offers, short scouting reports, etc. for all of them. I think this 2015 class has fewer high end prospects (like McDowell, Webb, Harris, etc.) than some other recent classes, but there look to be a few more Iowa, Indiana, and Purdue-level players scattered throughout the state than last year.
“We don’t run into much of any negative recruiting around here as SEC coaches,” Spurrier said. “We were involved with a player who was being recruited by a Big Ten school. They got negative a little bit with ‘There’s a lot of crime in Columbia, the big city. They don’t graduate their players,’ which was completely untrue. They searched for a little bit of everything but the player came with us anyways.”
I don't have a problem with "negative" recruiting. That being said I am really curious about this incident. I am guessing Urban but that could just be me hating Urban.
The main issue is the age of coaches. I don't know how much age plays a role in recruiting or negative recruiting but I see how the coach being your Granddad's age could make you wonder if e is retiring soon.
