I posted this question as a comment on another post about a week ago but it was buried.
What are your opionions on the lack of Michigan memorabilia (shirts, hats, etc.) with a Wolverine on them? The only wolverine I ever see these days is the retro one with the stiff upper lip wearing a hat. It seems like through the 70's and 80's, the wolverine was a lot more prevelant on Michigan shirts. What happened!? I, for one, think the wolverine is awesome and should be more widely used.
To give you an example, the wolverine on top of the block M in my icon photo is along the lines of what I'm talking about.
Spin off question.. Do you own a piece of retro Michigan clothing that you still hold dear because of it's uniqueness?
(BTW- This is my first post, so take it easy. Thanks!)
I asked a question if anyone had a calendar of recruiting schedules and MGo man Ken found this one on the NCAA site. Just worth posting to everyone to get ahead of "why isn't Harbaugh in Roquan Smith's home today??" next Tuesday. Everything is over but the faxes this Sunday at midnight. That surprised me, I thought Monday and Tuesday would be open game. So we will have a dearth of news and lots of rumor mongering next Mon/Tue but nothing concrete in terms of visits.
I also was unaware there is something called "dead periods" that are bracketed within "quiet periods" - in the quiet periods you can still text/direct message/call once a week TO the recruit (apparently recruit can call you as many times as they wish). Dead period is nothing.
And if interested the next open season to go hard at the 2016s begins April 15th and ends May 30th.* So hopefully we can lock down 5-7 quality dudes including a QB in that time frame to help recruit next fall. Next evaluation period after that begins Sept 1 but coaches will be busy then with other pursuits.
*every Sunday in April/May is a quiet period.
Jay Harbaugh's story about his dad using Gatorade with breakfast cereal, presented with a lack of milk that day, led to the UM Alumni Association creating the Jim Harbaugh Breakfast Challenge -- getting students to video themselves doing the same thing.
It's now reached Mike and Mike. Greenie challenged Golic to do it, and of course when it comes to stupid food challenges, Golic is all over it.
He'll be eating Froot Loops with Blue gatorade this morning.
Fitzgerald has been sending out personalized videos to season ticket holders in an effort to boost renewals after a disappointing season, and the Chicago Tribune provides a couple script examples:
Hi, YOUR NAME, this is Pat Fitzgerald, your head football coach here at Northwestern. This upcoming week, we’ll add a terrific group of young men to our football family with our recruiting class. Speaking of family, thank you for being a season-ticket holder. YOUR NAME, we need you now to step up again and renew those season tickets to give us the best home-field advantage in Big Ten football. I know you’re gonna be out there cheering us on loud and wearing your purple all season long. NAME, let’s go beat Stanford. Go Cats!
Others get this message:
I really want to challenge you to come out to support the Wildcats as we move forward to getting back to a championship level ... you’re part of the solution. We need you to continue to be a season ticket-holder and find a friend or two -- or 20! -- to be season-ticket holders, too.
All 10,000 season ticket accounts will be getting a message, phone call or letter from one of Northwestern's coaches.
Harbaugh is everywhere. After visiting California yesterday it appears Jim made the trip up to Washington to begin laying the groundwork for a potential flip of GA commit Jacob Eason. Eason is the #1 pro style QB in 2016 per 247 Composite; GA changed OCs (Bobo left for CSU) so we'll see if that hurts their relationship. ND and Bama are other key suitors. Looks like Nuss had some contact on behalf of UM earlier so he should at least be vaguely familiar with UM. (Looks like Nuss offered last year, same month as Costello)
2016 should be very interesting.
