A couple weeks ago, I put together a google map with all of the Michigan bars I'm aware of (and also everything from the spreadsheet that bouje has been maintaining.) The map is here.
Hopefully this will prevent the "where's the Michigan bar in Pittsburgh/Fresno/Topeka/wherever" threads that pop up every week, but if your favorite gameday hangout isn't on here, put it in the thread and let me know. I'll do my best to keep the map up to date.
For the Wisconsin game tomorrow, the Michigan Marching Band Halftime Show is called "Express Yourself" - The Power of Dance!
I bring this up because my boss’s daughter is a freshman and choreographed the dance routine. She is also the main dancer in the show. He’s in town from New Jersey, so I got Friday off (almost) to spend time here. That’s my cool story for today.
Other game day activities are here: http://www.mgoblue.com/promotions/fbl-gameday.html - which includes:
- Special Operations Command “Para-Commandos” will jump into the stadium prior to the game.
- The Softball Team will be recognized for winning the Big Ten championship
- The Water Polo Team will be recognized for winning the conference championship and finishing fourth in the NCAA Championship
- Mark Donahue, John Urbanchek, Kate Johnson and Lorne Howes will be honored as they are inducted into the Michigan Hall of Honor.
Tomorrow will be the first time Michigan has been in a top 10 matchup since...
The answer is - 9/1/12. Coming off a BCS bowl win, Michigan (8) got blown out by Nick Saban and Alabama (2). Not exactly a fun memory for me. Granted, we were a fake top 10 team that year. We have to go back almost a decade TO THE LLOYD CARR ERA to see legit top 10 games. And even then they were rare.
Here are the top ten matchups that Michigan has been in since 2000, as well as the result. None of this has any bearing on tomorrow's game, but still nice to look back at our history with important games. I'm shocked at home infrequent our top 10 games have been. This will be our first home top 10 matchup in 13 years. It's also our last win in a top 10 matchup, so let's hope we break the trend.
