this week in unintentionally grim-sounding recruiting headlines
So the NBA just completed their draft lottery, the Detroit Pistons are drafting 8th. According to sites I've seen, players listed around 8th best are a couple of foreign prospects (Mario Hezonga out of Croatia and Kristaps Porzingis out of Latvia) and Stanley Johnson. Full draft order:
1. Minnesota Timberwolves
2. LA Lakers
3. Philly 76ers
4. New York Knicks
5. Orlanda Magic
6. Sac. Kings
10. Miami Heat
12. Utah Jazz
13. Phoenix Suns
14. OKC Thunder
Wouldn't be like him to leave just before violations happen at his school.
John Calipari has made it known to Pelicans officials that he's interested in the team's head-coaching job. (via http://t.co/ayXbvvBxjy)— SportsCenter (@SportsCenter) May 19, 2015
Edit: That was fast.
Even though Anthony and Tyreke are in NOLA, I have no interest in the Pelicans or any other job. I have a great job and I'm happy at UK.— John Calipari (@UKCoachCalipari) May 19, 2015
Didn't really think he was going to end up at Purdue - and it's probably not as satisfying as if he went to Cal - but this is an acceptable outcome.
Big trouble in Champaign-Urbana:
He scored 2 points in 16 minutes for Oympiacos in a 78-59 loss to Real Madrid on Sunday. Not a bad career progression. EuroLeague Final Four is a huge event.
Olympiacos is based in Athens. This is his second year with that team.
Trey Burke is a man.
Where did everybody see this play? I watched it live, which was pretty cool.
