A game that looked like a snoozer . . . is suddenly not.
Gonzaga - South Carolina is tied 65-65 at 7:39.
The Basketball Hall of Fame announced its 2017 class today, and although they were both finalists, Chris Webber and Rudy Tomjanovich didn't make it. Among the people who did were Tracy McGrady, Rebecca Lobo and Bill Self.
An article yesterday on NBA.com said that both Webber and Rudy T had "good" chances of making it.
Putting McGrady in ahead of Webber is a bit of a head-scratcher. They have very similar NBA career numbers, but Webber averaged slighly more points and a whole lot more rebounds. And ... well, despite certain issues, Webber was an All-American and had a memorable college career, whereas McGrady had none.
And Rudy T should definitely make it at some point. Before getting slugged in the face, he was a pretty average NBA player, but he was a superstar college player and won two NBA titles as a coach. I'm guessing they're looking at him mostly as a coach, but his overall contributions to the game are far superior to others who are in the Hall. Put him the hell in!
Given his courtside demeanor and antics, it's not really all that surprising that many posters at MGoBlog think Tom Crean is a colossal jerk. I have to admit, my inclination was along those lines as well. But after reading these Indianapolis Star articles about him, I'm willing to admit I was probably too hasty in my judgment. At least off the court, he seems to be a really decent human being.
So happy to see this. UConn get the top 5 recruits every year. No competition. Kind of a joke. Have won 1000 games in a row. The refs tried to steal this from Miss. St. at the end with a terrible flagrant foul call.
