A couple tidbits: Comparing the city to his pre-Ann-Arbor home...
My mom is a retired teacher, so she comes to visit a lot. She loves to go out and see the city. We go out to dinner; we go shopping together. She loves seafood, and New York has way better seafood options than central Ohio, so we take advantage of that.
And a selfish choice, a 20-something's NYC impressions connecting with a long-ago 20-something's memories:
Now I can explore a bit. I just found the Cage, in the West Village, which is famous for pickup basketball games. Sometimes I just stop by places like that, talk to guys on the court. I love how basketball can be this really competitive thing, but also it can be a couple of friends shooting hoops on the playground.
As a newbie to the city I did extra work on a film, as "a village type" watching a pick-up game through the fence of the Cage. (Never knew that's what it was called.)
