Mount St. Mary's hired a private equity CEO to be their president. You'll never guess what happened next.
Many of us are either extremely excited or disappointed based on what NBA team (if any) we root for.
But let's not lose sight of the fact that MICHIGAN had two players selected in the first round of the NBA Draft tonight. Clearly both Trey and Tim made the right decision, and I hope it pays off with a long and successful careers in the NBA. Congrats to both...and MOST IMPORTANTLY...THANK YOU!
You both TRULY put Michigan Basketball back on the map, I for one will be forever grateful. It was a pleasure watching both of these guys play and represent Michigan in a positive manner.
We went to the frickin National Championship Game! We have the Most Outstanding Player. We had the play of the NCAA Tournament. These guys led the way for an amazing run and they'll forever be missed. For many, the most fun year they've ever had rooting for Michigan.
THANKS GUYS...WE'LL MISS YOU! Best of luck. GO BLUE!
Welcome to the Knicks THJ!
But maybe the Bulls, because I hear they once were a rival of the Pistons, and what's most important to me now is rooting against the Pistons.
We likely all remember that McGary's success in the tournament apparently had something to do with him losing weight. Dylan over at UMoops noted the other day that he was listed at 266 lbs at the Nike Academy and worried that he'd added his old, bad weight back. It turns out that isn't true. Someone watching the camp tweetered that he looks "downright svelte," and the big fella sent out a pic of himself with Anthony Davis (I can't get the thing to embed) in which he looks pretty fit. It seems like things continue to be on the upswing with our favorite unicycle-riding big man.
PS: Read UMHoops if you don't already (I have no connection to it). It's about Michigan! And basketball! And Michigan basketball!
Still no 2015 commits for Kim Barnes Arico and the Michigan basketball program, but they today picked up a 2017 commit—5-8 guard Brelynn "Bre" Hampton-Bey—after getting a pledge from Akienreh Johnson in the 2016 class last week. Having attending Springfield Middle School, Hampton-Bey will join Johnson at Toledo Rogers High School this fall. Hampton-Bey also plays AAU ball for the same program as Johnson—the Toledo Vipers.
There's little available on the web about Hampton-Bey—which isn't surprising given that she just finished 8th grade—but If I come across anything else I'll post it here or in the recruiting board thread. I did find this video of her dunking—but certainly not on a 10-foot rim. There's another video of her supposedly dunking on 9.5-foot rim, so perhaps that's the height here.
