here's one vote for "John Beilein's head in a Futurama jar"
Today at 6pm is the Men's Selection Sunday event. I thought I'd make a thread about it now because they have already started their bracketology session on ESPN. This thread is to discuss what seed and where Michigan will be playing and to talk about all other teams in or on the bubble.
I believe that Michigan will be 4 seed out west or a 3 seed in Auburn Hills if the selection committee understands that we only have one bad loss.
here is what ESPN thinks as of today (I don't know what I think about this since they have Wisconsin trending down even though they just beat Michigan and Indiana back to back)... http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/bracketology
Here is what a writer on yahoo thinks the seeds with be... http://sports.yahoo.com/featured/ncaab/bigboard
What seed does everyone else think Michigan will end up as??

I dumped Massey Power into a bracket generator, added the autobids, tweaked it the minimum amount necessary to split teams in the same conference, and here's what came out:
There are probably some surprises here to anyone that hasn't been following any of the computer rankings: Iowa and Baylor in, Stanford in over Cal, Miami barely a 4 seed.
Michigan's a 4-seed, in a pod with Davidson, Marquette and the winner of a Colorado/Oklahoma play-in game.
The projected last 16:
- Indiana/St. Louis
- Kansas/Michigan St.
- Ohio St./Pittsburgh
- Georgetown/New Mexico
That top region is something else, if you think the ACC is a good conference this year. The computers don't--Sagarin has the ACC a distant fourth, barely better than the MWC.
Of course things might change a bit this afternoon, but (1) none of the computer sites will update their rankings until tomorrow and (2) my sense has been that the committee tends to ignore the late Sunday games because it's too late in the day to mess around with the bracket unless you're exchanging teams from the same conference. Sometimes they assign the two spots to the two teams and let the championship game decide which one goes where, but I'm pretty sure OSU > Wisconsin and Miami>NC and Florida>Mississippi regardless of what happens today.
So Lunardi hasn't updated bracketology since yesterday afternoon, probably for a reason. Since then, Syracuse had the audacity to look like a 2 seed against Louisville in the first half, and then get monumentally destroyed in the second half, getting outscored by thirty. What I'm getting to is, with 'Cuse's choke last night, could Michigan possibly steal that 3 seed back?
While Wisconsin has looked tough over the last couple of games, it's kind of hard to make a team a 3 seed with 10 losses. Even though, we have looked rough the last 10 -12 games, we are still a team that managed to stay in the top 10 for the entire season playing in argueably the toughest conference in college basketball.
So here I ask for your expert opinions and predictions, not more whining, complaining, and nagging. Even I have come to the realization that this team may not overachieve in the post season, and I never thought I would.
At The Benchmark drinking vodka. Looooong drive home tomorrow.
(Slight Mod Edit / Repurposing - if we're going to have a drinking thread, then this may as well be the one. You're welcome. Great Lakes Brewing Company's Dortmunder Gold at the moment. LSA)
Nix's flagrant is just something that drives me nuts. What is the difference between what Nix did and what Woford did to GR3? Nothing really, except Nix outweighs Craft by 100lbs. I hate when the foul is determined because of the size of the player or more precisely the differential of size between the 2 players. Nix is a goon but if he made the exact same play on Thomas it doesn't get called. Too bad it wasn't Spike who got that breakaway we would be BIg Ten champs.
All right I'm done bitching please return to hating the basketball team and looking for spring football nuggets.
Do not want.
Especially with arizona in the Third Round and it not being in Auburn Hills.
