it's a major award
Which was the better game. Both were improbable comebacks.
Out of sheer boredom and procrastination in my last semester at Michigan, I created this hype video today of our favorite basketball misfits (or fits?) that has highlights from the previous 3 tournament games. This is my first time embedding a video to begin a thread, so let me know if you have any problems so I can fix them!
The video quality isn't spectacular because the Kansas raw footage is not exactly common currently (you will also see that I am a video making amateur). However, I am extremely satisfied with the finished product. I hope it gives you the same goose pimples it gave me when I watched it for the first time (ps: it killed me to go through some of the middle sequences)!
I'm reposting a poem that I shared earlier in the comments of the Lore post by Brian. Justingoblue did me the honor of a points bump so I could post my own content. I'm a little nervous since it's my first post but nothing compared to last night! I chose to make it a diary solely because it seems diary content fills up the whole center column while board topics include the user information on the left. Maybe this will allow the lines enough room not to wrap and will be easier to read. Moderators, feel free to place it somewhere else if needed.
This is the MGoBlog version. I have a slightly different version on my personal sight without the MGo jokes. Inspired by Brian's post: Exponent Time, Ernest Thayer's: Casey at the Bat, the Liveblog and, of course, the team! As I said before, I don't claim to be a professional poet or writer and it needs some revising. But I'm pretty happy with how it turned out so far. Anyway, get to the point man...
Good early morning from Korea. We have yet to be bombed and Michigan beat Kansas. That's how I like to start my mornings. Breakfast? Pancakes from chef Prince.
What an amazing game. I woke up needing to satisfy my euphoria with more content and found some fan videos taken from the stadium that you might enjoy:
This is from a Michigan fan courtside, sitting with a bunch of Kansas fans. Low quality, a little slow, finger on the lens... but the payoff is worth it! Also, it's cool to see how the huge video screen shows highlights from different angles.
This is a short video from high up in the rafters. This place is huge! The screen, again, changes the way people watch the game, I'm sure. Spoiler: Trey hits a 3 pointer.
This last video is just for the joy of it. Short, terrible quality, vertical video of a Kansas fan's pain. It's like seeing the evil twin in the mirror, and he is not us. (NSFW language)
Lastly, there are tons of articles which I will be enjoying all day. I loved this one up at UMHoops.com: An oral history of Michigan's comback win over Kansas. Read it!
Josh Bartelstein: “There was a timeout, I think we were down like 14. We brought everyone together and said ‘let’s do something special’. That’s what the message had to be: let’s do something special and let’s have people talk about this game forever. They’re going to talk about it forever now.”
Robinson: “The biggest thing (Burke) said that I took in was, ‘Believe.’ Just that. ‘We’re not losing this game. We’re going to come back and win this. We can’t go home without a victory.’ I believed him.”
I'm looking for Michigan locker room celebration type of videos (or vs. VCU for that matter). Anybody see anything? Share your post game videos, stories, favorite articles here.
(Jalen, you so crazy)
How do we fare tomorrow? Here's a bit of a breakdown on the two teams:
Florida's Road: (29-7 - Kenpom - 1st)
W vs. Northwestern State - (Kenpom - 140th)
W vs. Minnesota - (Kenpom - 20th)
W vs. Florida Gulf Coast - (Kenpom - 89th)
Florida has had one of the easier roads to the Elite Eight. The knock on Florida is that they play in the weakest major conference in college basketball. They are Kenpom's favorite team, so if you trust in that ranking, we may be in some trouble. They beat Wisconsin, but also lost to K-State and split with Arkansas.
Michigan's Road: (29-7 - Kenpom - 7th)
W vs. South Dakota State - (Kenpom - 104th)
W vs. VCU - (Kenpom - 16th)
W vs. Kansas - (Kenpom - 10th)
Michigan's loss to Penn State and drubbing by Michigan State were the only real embarrasments of the season. Propensity to slack for the first 10 minutes of a game may put them in a hole. Naismith winner in Trey Burke. Top flight center in McGary. Weapons like GRIII and THJ could have honestly been the focal point of our team at any point in the past 15 years.
I think that we win this game if either THJ or GRIII shows up at all. I wish THJ got more touches per game, as he always seems to hit his shots. Blasphemy, but I'd rather he take a game winning shot than Burke. It just seems like he never misses. I don't see anyone on Florida that scares me like I did with Kansas. The Puppy is going to get his again. I think that we are not seeing a hot stretch from McGary, only seeing him achieve his average potential. He's a solid, solid player. Very skilled. It's a testament to how good this team is that either GRIII or Stauskas is our least valuable starter, when they'd both be 1-2 options in past years.
Came across this while basking in the happiness of last night. Relatively poorly edited, but entertaining nonetheless.
