I am on here daily (hourly is more like it) and I never seen it posted, I apologized in advanced if it is since this video has been on youtube since 1/8.

Either way though, this interview with Novak, Burke, Morgan, and THJ is too funny not to share:

Enjoy.

p.s. THJ, why so serious?

Grantland Writer Calls Burke "the most exciting player in college basketball."

Excerpt:

I'm coming out with the big guns today: Trey Burke is the most exciting player in college basketball.

You want caveats? OK. Trey Burke is the most electric, dynamic, breathtaking human being wearing a Division I uniform, and Tuesday night, he etched his name into Michigan lore with a 20-point virtuoso turn in a 60-59 home win over rival Michigan State. Also, he's the coolest customer on the court at any given time, and he's only a freshman.

2012-2013 Basketball Depth Chart

After watching last night's victory against MSU you can't help but think how much better we will be next year, especially with the depth we will have, and the recruits coming in. I am hoping for a 6-0 record vs MSU after next year. Who all do you think will start next year for UM?

My projected starting lineup: Burke-Vogrich-Hardaway-McGary-Morgan

With the 2nd string: Brundidge-Stauskas-Robinson-Smotrycz-Horford.

That's pretty good depth, and I could see Beilein starting any of the 2nd string players as well.

Way too early Arkansas preview

Well, Saturday at 2 Michigan takes on the Arkansas Razorbacks in the great land of Clinton(Bill that is).

Big Nasty's team comes fresh off their road blowout loss to KY http://www.kentucky.com/2012/01/17/2032252/kentucky-vs-arkansas-9-pm-espn.html

a team with considerably more NBA talent than your Detroit Pistons.

Beilein may continue with the "3 players back" philosophy that yielded multiple rebounds to MSU, as Arkansas makes a living by pushing the ball up and down the court, trapping, and running motion.  They call it "40 Minutes of Hell" harkening back to the '94 glory days   http://bloghawgs.com/2012/01/09/remembering-hawg-ball-sec-storied-40-minutes-of-hell-edition/ First year coach Mike Anderson was the apple that fell directly beneath the Nolan Richardson tree.  They're going to press.  A lot.

6'3" Freshman SG BJ Young is your major scoring option out of the backcourt at 15pts/g.  He is shooting .418 from downtown.  He also excells at attacking the basket.  Think Trey Burke only taller with more recruiting hype and considerably less heart.  This is likely Stu's assignment.

6'1" Junior PG Julysses Nobles leads the Razorbacks in minutes played, assists, and consecutive consonants in his first name.  Most of his scoring comes from outside.  This is Trey's assignment.

Cautionary tale about checking your sources:  Marshawn Powell is indeed out for the season.  Thank you to those of you who knew this and did not point out that I ate a lot of paint chips as a kid.  That is more than I deserve.

This actually leaves Jordan Morgan at a considerable advantage in the post.  They've got a 6'8" freshman named Devonta Abron and a 6'8" senior named Michael Sanchez.  Niether one has much of an offensive game.  Abron is a pretty good rebounder.

6'2" Mardracus Ware wins the "Oh Lord please dont leave him open from downtown" award.  He is shooting something like 51% for 3.

Regardless of outcome, this is going to be a great opportunity to learn to win on the road.  With limited information, I'm going to compare Arkansas to the Clemson team Michigan beat in the tournament a few years ago.  If Trey gets in foul trouble we're cooked.

Remaining Basketball Schedule favors State, Ohio, Illinois

  • scheduling

Last night's game vs. Michigan State was exciting and a great game to watch. However, this may be the high water mark for the year. Thankfully, Michigan has done well so far. There are three  ways, however, that our schedule was and continues to be very tough.

  1. Last five game stretch. Five games in thirteen days is pretty rough for college teams, as Beilein mentioned in the post-game interview, but we weathered this with a 3 - 2 record.
  2. Games vs. top 3 teams and bottom 3 teams. If you go through the schedule, Michigan and OSU play the other 3 front runners a total of six times, and the bottom dwellers four times. MSU & Illinois have a slight advantage, with playing the top 3 five times and bottom 3 five times.
  3. Home vs. Road games. This is perhaps the most significant gauntlet and challenge facing Michigan. From here on out, we have four home games and eight road games, only one home game for every two on the road. In contrast, MSU has seven at home, and five on the road (and Ohio six at home.)  With our four remaining home games, three (Indiana, Ohio, & Illinois,) are against teams ranked in the top 25.

Wins will be very difficult to come by from now through the end of the season. If we are going to finish well, it is critical that especially Hardaway and Smotrycz, along with Novak, Douglass, and Burke, return to form with the 3 point shot. This will completely open up the floor, and make back door cuts and the pick and roll much, much more effective.

We'll have to see what happens, but at this point, I hope we get at least six more wins. I can see winning at Nebraska, & Penn State, and beating Indiana, Illinois, and Purdue at home. If we win one of the other seven games, better yet, two, we would finish with a record of 21 - 10 prior to the Big 10 Tourney. Should we do better than that, this team will have exceeded my hopes and expectations.

Fab Five vs state game (The butt wipe game)?

I have read numerous times about a game in the 90s when the Fab Five was playing at state. And I think it was Jalen Rose who whiped his butt on the "S" at midcourt and jumped on the scorers table and flipped off the crowd.

Does anyone have any footage of this? Would LOVE to see it.
