Tennessee is not recruiting well just because they got 18 dudes
In an interesting turn of events, Bacari has hired Pete Kahler, the UM video assistant turned director of basketball ops, and Canaan Chatman, Kam Chatman's dad and a now former Nike Elite Youth Basketball Regional Director.
Kahler was one of the video guys during UM's NCAA run if I'm not mistaken. Now both he and Will Vergollo, both behind-the-scenes guys during UM's championship game run, have assistant coach spots.
Another interesting side note - Jermaine Jackson Sr has been retained. He interviewed for the UDM job and didn't get it. Word on the street is that he's got a pretty fiery personality and may be a bit of a handful. Not coincidentally, his son is a 3* guard out of Dakota high school. UM has poked around there a little, but Junior is pretty undersized. Still, he's a very capable scorer, especially if he heads to a place like the Horizon League. Don't be shocked to see two father-son combos at UDM in the future.
This may be considered soliciting and if this is not ok, I appologize and feel free to take it down but I am coaching an inner city high school basketball team South Los Angeles and we need to raise money for transportation to games for the 2016/2017 season. I figured since it is sports and charity related, it was worth a shot throwing it up here and seeing if we could get any support.
If I get any kids that end up being recruited by Michigan, I'll be sure to encourage them to do the right thing ;)
Can Golden State close out the Cavs tonight without Draymond Green? It should be fun to watch, regardless.
Figured you guys would be interested in this. French wing Solly Stansbury visited Michigan last week.
Michigan has offered 2017 5* SF Kris Wilkes today, during his visit. He is the number 12 player in the country.
RECRUITING ALERT! 2016 Wing Harold Baruti (Utah commit) will open up his recruitment. Mutual decision w/Utah. Full NCAA qualifier.— Mountain Mission (@mmshoops1921) June 10, 2016
You might remebemer him from several weeks ago as one of our last hopes of filling our scholarship allotment this year and gaining some much needed depth on the wing and him subsequently choosing Utah over us amid a chorus of "BEILEIN CAN'T RECRUIT!!" cries. Apparently this is no longer the case.
EDIT: Apparently he may not be an option. According to MLive's Brendan F. Quinn
FWIW: Am told Baruti posted a qualifying score on the Test of English as a Foreign Language, but came in below Michigan's required score.— Brendan F. Quinn (@BFQuinn) June 10, 2016
