here's one vote for "John Beilein's head in a Futurama jar"
I was watching pre-game coverage when a bout of inspiration hit me. I ignored all else so I could get this down before I forgot it. I hope you enjoy this. Now if you’ll excuse me, I hear there’s a pretty big game on right now.
The devil Pitino went down to Georgia, he was looking for a title to steal.
He was in a bind, his team was way behind because Burke was making steals.
He had run into some young men raining down threes and making some blocks.
the devil Pitino jumped up onto the hardcourt and said “Boys, let me tell you what:
“I bet you didn’t know it, but my team’s pretty damn good too
“And if you care to take a dare I’ll make a bet with you.
“Now you’ve playing good basketball, but give my Cardinals their due:
“I bet the national title against your game ‘cause I think we’re better than you.”
The boys said: “Well we’re the Fresh Five and this may not be wise,
“But we’ll take your bet, you’re gonna regret, cause we’re the best since the Fab Five.”
Wolverines take your practice shots and get ready to play hard.
‘Cause Louisville’s in Georgia and
the devil Pitino deals the cards.
And if you win you gain respect from M fans young and old.
But if you lose, it just might crush my soul.
The devil Pitino chalked up many plays and said: “We’ll start this show.”
And threes rained from beyond the arc and put backs went down low.
And the Cardinals were the darlings, making Wolverine fans hiss.
Then the Cardinal sang a song to their glory and it sounded something like this:
When the Cardinals finished, the Fresh Five said: “Well you’re pretty good ‘ol chaps.
“But sit down on that bench, right there.” And Burke gave the court a slap.
Stauskas nailing three balls, one by one.
Burke showing all why we’re number one.
Robinson and Hardaway alley-oops, WHOA!
“Beilein does Big Puppy bite?”
Go, Mitch, go.”
The devil Pitino and the Cardinals sank low once they were beat.
And they laid the national title on the court at the Fresh Five’s feet.
Burke said: “
Devil Pitino just come on back but I warn you that’s not wise.
“’Cause we told you once, you sorry old man, we’re the best since the Fab Five.”
And they sang “Stauskas nailed three balls, one by one.
“Burke showed all why we’re number one.
“Robinson and Hardaway alley-ooped, WHOA!
“And Mitch got a double-double.
“Go, Blue, Go!”
Travel Channel's Man V. Food show highlighting Ann Arbor - visited Blimpy's, Maize and Blue Deli, and Tio's, where the host took down the Mount Nacheesmo challenge. It's a replay from a couple years ago, but perhaps fortuitous timing, all the same.
Time to feast on Cardinal!
Once more unto the breach, dear friends....
Not only keeping with the front page style, but I feel that way. I'm pretty live and let live on threads. But I might have fought someone for this one tonight. I'm taking no chances. I even had subs tonight. Because I bet it's going to get crazy. Liveblog is up on the front page, so if there are zero posts in this thread, that's fine. It exist. (Oh, and you can check out the Gameday open thread till this game really gets started).
It's funny how 2 and a half hours, plus commercials, can bring such misery or joy, over how a ball bounces. Both teams here have accomplished a lot. But only one gets to go home happy. For every person who loves this team and thinks "we're due" there's a Louisville fan thinking the same. Programs, recently overshadowed by their in-state rival, trying to win their first national championship since the late 80's, with a coach trying to set a historic personal milestone and prove their ranking among the elite. And someone is going to end very unhappy. So it's time to seize the day. Better them than us.
Because one of these opportunities may not come along for awhile. It doesn't have to be 20 years of darkness to not get back to this point; it's really hard, and you can be good for a good long while and not have the perfect mesh of players who come together in the right year, the right amount of chemistry and luck in big Tournament games, and things belong your control like some opposing team who is just better than you that year.
Is Louisville that team? We'll know before the night is done. But we should try and enjoy every player and play tonight, because we have no idea how many of these guys will be back. And while I expect we'll always be good under John Beilein, there's no guarantee we get back this far, even fielding good team after good team. If you had told a young me that after going 3 out of 5 years and back to back that we wouldn't be back till I was 20 years older, I don't know that I'd have believed it. We were Michigan. And we will be; a new generation will get to experience that from this day forward. I just hope they also don't have to experience the agony of losing one of these things. There's not much in sports worse. But only with great risk can come great reward.......
We are here. Louisville may be the better team, but we have the better players; and while Pitino does a great job when you consider recruiting and everything, I think we have the better X&O coach. One day to prepare. Time for them to shine in the short turnaround. Play for 40 minutes, leave it all on the court, and have no regrets. And bring home the ring and the banner, and fire up the pep rally and parade. I want to watch One Shining Moment and be happy. 5 down, only 1 to go. Let's do this. Go Blue!

With less than 3 hours to go until tip-off, can anyone give me rock-solid information on how to be able to listen to Matt Shepherd doing the National Championship Game PBP instead of the CBS national radio feed? I want to be prepared well in advance of tonight's game.
I've spent the last hour on these internets searching for KNOWLEDGE on how to insure being able to listen to Shepherd, and now am at the mercy of those here who are in the know about such vital information.
I was able to find out that the game will be broadcast in my area locally by WSJM 1400-AM out of the St. Joseph/Benton Harbor area, but 2 nights ago (when I tired of Jim Nance) and clicked on to their "Listen Live" icon, they instead had some syndicated political talk show on. Found out later they were not permitted to stream the game live, but I was given no actual reason (BTW, WSJM is a local-only AM station that is required to cut way back the wattage of their signal at sundown. I know this from the frustration of losing night-game radio broadcasts of Tiger Baseball).
What, if any, are my best options for being able to listen to Shepherd do the broadcast tonight?
