I did not make this headline up
Moar basking in the glory of this basketball team! In the glory of this coach! How many times in our lifetimes will be bear witness to such an incredible season, especially relative to expectations when McGary went down?
What odds would Vegas have placed on Michigan winning the BiG outright after losing Hardaway and POY Burke, AND their new #1 guy McGary? I cannot fathom. When was the last time a team that isn't a hype/recruit factory like Kansas/Duke/Kentucky didn't win its conference, then lost its top 3 guys, and came in the next year and won it outright? I MUST BASK AND SAVOR THIS. I MUST DRINK DEEP OF THE GLORY BEFORE ME. I KNEEL BEFORE ZOD!
Is Beilein the best coach the University of Michigan has had not named Bo, Yost or Berenson? I realize we haven't won any NCs yet, but from the dredges that Beilein inherited to this?
RAPTURE!!!! SOMEONE LINK RAPTURE MAN!!!
Been following this team since my freshman year in 1986 and NEVER has a UM basketball team brought me more joy than this one! (OK '89 did but that was a long time ago and I forgot how it felt!)
BLESS YOU Mr. Beilein! From all us married alums who must now ball vicariously through your student-athletes, THANK YOU!!!
The 7 seed Wolverines take on the 10 seed hoosiers of indiana at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indy.
Should Michigan win, they will face 2 seed state tomorrow.
This is most likely the only shot the Women have at an NCAA Tournament appearance.
EDIT: 9 straight wins over IU.
I don't think this has been posted yet, but Dylan from umhoops retweeted a link that someone put together that generates the BTT bracket based on upcoming results. I played around with it a bit and I haven't been able to find a scenario where Indiana isn't in the 8-9 game, so we could well be looking at back to back games with them. My other conclusion is that MSU beating OSU is in UM's best interest as that will get MSU, OSU, and Wisconsin all on the other side of the bracket.
As always, Bracket Matrix lives here: http://www.bracketmatrix.com/
The Bracket Matrix currently ranks us as a 3 seed, the second of the 3 seeds, with an average seed of 2.73. However, our average seed among brackets that updated prior to last night at 10 PM is 2.67. That would not change our spot on the S-curve, but it would move us closer. Of note, the brackets that updated last night did not account for the Duke loss. Duke currently is a 2 seed on the Bracket Matrix, the last of the 2 seeds, with an average seed of 2.29.
Lundardni just updated his bracket: http://espn.go.com/ncb/bracketology. (All Lunari disclaimers apply.) He has Michigan a 3 seed, and the second of the 3 seeds: http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/nitty. Lundard notes:
- He has Nebraska IN. The last team in;
- Minnesota is his third team out, FSU his fourth;
- Stanford is getting close to his bubble territory;
- B1G: MSU (4); OSU (6); Iowa (6); Wisconsin (2); Nebraska First Four, fighting for an 11.
Jerry Palm lives here: http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/bracketology. He has Michigan on the 2 line, so Jerry Palm is your mass market bracketologist of the day and comes with no disclaimers. His other B1G seedings are comparable to Luardi. He also has Nebraska in.
Finally, Crashing the Dance: http://crashingthedance.com/seed.php now has Michigan as its 7 team on its S-curve, meaning that we would get a 2 seed. CTD gives no love to the Cornhuskers.
FoxSports attended the Michigan @ Illinois game as part of their College Basketball Road Trip. Due to the annihilation, the writers decided delve deeper into the background of Michigan's players from the media guide and found them to be the most interesting team in the world. Most of the stuff in the article is already known to most Michigan fans, but I never knew this one: Caris LeVert is the third cousin of Eddie LeVert, the lead vocalist of the O'Jays.
Google search for Eddie Levert's twitter and you find this tweet from a week ago:
Well!!!!MY COUSIN BE BALLIN FOR MICHIGAN LOOK OUT LEBRON GOTTA SHARE THE THRONE WITH A LeVERT
My brother works for the Charlotte Bobcats (Hornets?) and just sent me this picture:
This is from last year's draft, so I guess they were considering drafting him. From what I can read, the scouting report says:
- Outstanding pick & roll player
- Can make shots from anywhere
- Good shooter off the dribble
- Very good at driving and kicking
- Sees the floor well
- Quick physical player
Even though the Bobcats ended up taking Cody Zeller with the 4th overall pick, I thought this was a cool look into how a pro team prepares for the draft.
I wonder what the Piston's board said..."drives foreign car" maybe?
