Mount St. Mary's hired a private equity CEO to be their president. You'll never guess what happened next.
On his unofficial visit today, 6-3 shooting guard Eric Davis of Saginaw Arthur Hill received a Michigan offer, per his high school team:
He's a consensus four-star recruit, ranked #39 in the 2015 class according to the 247 composite. I haven't followed his recruitment that closely, but his 247 profile shows a slew of MSU crystal ball predictions for him. Long shot?
In addition to MSU, his offers include Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, OSU, Oregon, UCLA, and UNLV. Duke, Kentucky, and Stanford have expressed interest in him.
Aaron Craft is hoping for some kind of Cato June transformation, accomplishing things in the NBA that he hasn't accomplished in four years of college ball. Bad start for him at the combine:
In early testing at the NBA Combine, the results were mixed. Craft was one of just two players to miss all five attempts on a set shot from the left side of the court, and was the worst of guards shooting off the dribble and breaking right (1-for-6). He did, however miss only one attempt from the top of the key (5-for-6).
i don't like it, but that's just me. with so many kids leaving early, i don't think the quality is good enough to reduce the shot clock. you'll just have more bad shots.
Per Eric Bossi, a Rivals national basketball analyst, Michigan may be in line to receive a visit from a 6'6" rising star out of Ukrainian, Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk. This would be a big deal.
Mykhailiuk would easily be a top-10 player regardless of class (2014/2015/2016), and is apparently eligible to enroll now since his academics are strong (his dad is a college professor).
He was the youngest participant in the recent Nike Hoops Summit at 16 years old, and some scouts have said he's the best shooter in Europe right now, regardless of age. NBA scouts are very intrigued.
By the Compare Him To Another White Guy Test, I'd say he looks like a more athletic version of Stauskas (note the Badger-dagger between-the-legs step back 3's in the videos below).
EDIT: Sam Webb touched on Mykhailiuk this morning in the recruiting roundup and basically said it's not gonna happen. So, there's that.
