Congratulations to kirby0013 for wining last years challenge. What methods do people use to make their picks?
John Templeton of his great site, NYC Buckets, has just released his final NIT projected field.
Michigan is a 6 seed and would play a game at 3 seed Connecticut.
If Michigan won that game, they would be guaranteed a home game in the Second Round.
How? Their second round game would be the winner of 2 Illinois at 7 William & Mary.
Illinois cannot host an NIT game at all due to renovations at their arena.
Let's all hope Michigan has their name called. 8:30pm on ESPNU.
UPDATE: Here is the final updated NIT projections with the first four out of the NCAA Tournament as the NIT 1 seeds. Michigan's projection remains unchanged.
''I don't want someone from Arizona State coaching the Michigan team,'' Schembechler said. ''A Michigan man is going to coach Michigan.''
On March 15, 1989, the long lived "Michigan Man" phrase became entrenched into Michigan folklore. 26 years later we sit on the NIT bubble.
The story was covered by The New York Times in an article available on-line. http://www.nytimes.com/1989/03/16/sports/frieder-is-dropped-for-taking-a-new-job.html. It's mostly Frieder's side to the story but that's pretty much what happened.
Chicken jokes aside, and I'm sure WD is going to share some notes on every meeting...but why don't we play ND in basketball every year?
It makes too much sense to be honest.
Is there some history behind it? Why not play one game each year?
