Congratulations to Nik! Great work ethic & persistence does in fact pay off. Thoughts on his NBA future?
Will tonight be the first time since 1990 where Michigan has a trio of first rounders?
Will the Pistons take a Wolverine if one is available?
Will Jordan Morgan sneak in the draft?
John Beilein said he will wait out all 60 picks to see if JMo gets drafted.
Michign signed Bacari Alexander, LaVall Jordan and Jeff Meyer to extensions including raises.
Details are not available yet but this is obviously great news!
stauskas is signing autographs at champs sports on the southwest corner of 42nd and 7th in NYC. it started at 5:30, but you can still get in. the line wasn't too bad because security is doing a good job. nik seems like a very nice guy and was able to identify the signatures of trey, and novak on the item i asked him to sign.
Interesting idea in trying to gather the most information for the draft from all available sources. Will be interesting to see if this is a publicity stunt of sorts or if they are really valueing the input of these NBA fans. With their new owner Vivek Ranadivé being a hardcore analytics guy I think this is more about the novel information.
My $0.02: The start of the video explores how much the 8th pick will help them immediately. The Western Confernce is stacked right now, the Kings are very young, and they are going to suck next year regardless of who they draft or trade the pick for. Near the end it seemed like the GM was more thinking towards getting the player with the highest upside. Sactown is not a destination city and the only way for them to get an eiite franchise player is through the draft. I think it is better to swing for the fence and strike out, giving yourself the opportunity to hit a HR next year, rather than hitting a double and being a bubble team with no chance of championship contention.
Looks like the Hornets have given Mitch McGary a promise to take him 24th overall, according to Chad Ford of ESPN. This should help explain him being unwilling to take a physical prior to the draft. It's not an official, binding guarantee the Hornets will select him if available. Although teams usually stick by draft promises, assuming he's still on the board when they pick, which he should be.
Here's the LINK for that story.
In other NBA news, the Pistons and Kings have had talks about a Josh Smith trade, with Derrick Williams and either Jason Thompson or Jason Terry coming back to Detroit. Hope that one pans out.
