ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan men's basketball head coach John Beilein announced today (Wednesday, August 6) freshman forward D.J. Wilson (Sacramento, Calif./Capital Christian School) underwent successful surgery on his right pinky finger and will miss 4-6 weeks for recovery."This is an unfortunate injury for D.J.," said Beilein. "However, we have the best training and medical staff here at U-M, so we know he is in good hands. We anticipate a speedy recovery so D.J. will be back and at 100 percent when we start our September workouts."Wilson, who will still travel with U-M to Italy on Aug. 15-24, averaged 13.9 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game last season at Capital Christian School. He guided the Cougars to a 28-4 record, 10-0 Golden Empire League and a final No. 3 state ranking.
From Stars and Stripes, here are details on a nice addition to the Michigan basketball Italy tour:
The University of Michigan men’s basketball team will visit the army base Caserma Del Din in Vicenza on Wednesday, Aug. 20, as part of a multi-stop Italian hoops tour.
The Wolverines will start their base visit by serving lunch to and dining with servicemembers at 11:30 a.m., said Rob Veney, coach of the post’s military basketball program and an organizer of the event in conjunction with MWR. At 1 p.m., the team will meet with soldiers from the 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team and 509th Signal Battalion, then conclude their visit with a shootaround and autograph signing from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
I don't want to copy the entire article, but the next paragraph has details on the four games the Wolverines will play (includiing the 6.90 euro admission price for each game in Vicenza), for anyone who hasn't seen the rundown yet.
Just heard about the Paul George broken leg; neither of the 2 local 11 PM news channels showed it so I imagine it is pretty gruesome. I don't want to see it but is it Kevin Ware, Shaun Livingston like for those who did see it. Please don't post embed if you reply :P a link to it is fine.
Trey Burke has been named in a Macomb County lawsuit seeking over $25,000 in damages (minimum that has to be mentioned in the complaint).
This arises out of unfortunate joking about the guy on Twitter, that Shaq mocked, who turned out to have a rare disease. Shaq and Waka Flocka were also named as defendants. It is unknown if any of the other, non-wealthy, re-twetters were also named, but for some reason I doubt it.
While I feel bad for the guy, I do not think the actions were intended to be hostile AND all three apologized to him privately and publicly. In my opinion, this should not be a viable cause of action.
The defendants are wealthy and they made a social media mistake.
