i refuse to even consider this a possibility
Obviously all of these games are very important for Michigan's NIT hopes, but 3 NCAA bids will be up for grabs tonight.
Here's the slate. 3 set to tip off now.
|CAA Champ.||1 William & Mary vs. 3 Northeastern||LOST 72-61|
|SoCon Champ.||1 Wofford vs. 10 Furman||WON 67-64|
|Summit Semis||1 S. Dakota St. vs. 5 S. Dakota||WON 78-65|
|MAAC Champ.||1 Iona vs. 3 Manhattan||LOST|
We need the 1 seeds to win, obviously.
Since taking the starting job, he is averaging 33.7 mpg and 11.4 ppg with a shooting line of 51/46/90 (2P/3P/FT).
I think he came a little too late to the party to have an opportunity at All-B1G Freshman Team.
In the coming days (or hopefully weeks) we will wrap up the basketball season and there will be countless posts written about "what if...." or "looking toward next year" or any number of optimistic stories about the growth for next season. As a prelude to those pieces, I will throw out this question.
Can you name these three current or former John Beilein players based on their freshmen stats?
I'll post the answer in the comments, so don't look ahead if you want to guess. I obviously cherry-picked a few stats to tell a story and could have picked some other players as well. The message, however, is that there have been many examples of a "sophomore leap" under John Beilein and if we consider the huge number of freshmen on this year's team we should have reason to believe in next year.
Every day is an important day for Michigan. The more 1 seeds mid-majors that win their conference tourneys, helps Michigan's chances as it saves NIT bids.

|SoCon Semis||1 Wofford vs. 4 W. Carolina||WON 73-61|
We also get to watch Wisconsin destroy OSU on their senior day at 4:30 on CBS.
It's a scrambled, self-aggrandizing defense from Izzo-ner. This line made me vomit a little in my mouth:
"It's not the first time Izzo, the Big Ten's dean of coaches, has defended a colleague."
I'd honestly never registered that he has the longest tenure in the conference. He appears to have none of the wisdom and dignity I'd associate with the honorific.
I will only start this thread because I'm confidnet I'm the only Belmont grad part of this MGoBlog community.
I couldn't be more proud of Belmont for being the first in the tourney, especially considering they have won 2 out of their first 3 years years being part of the OVC.
Any predictions on who will win the other 'MidMajors?'
Matchup issues for other conferences?
Thoughts on conference champioships for MidMajors? Worth it? Not worth it?
Best time of the year!
