Hoke was top notch at this aspect of his job.
For those in the Savannah, Georgia area, Michigan Baseball is headed your way this weekend.
After the Keith LeClair Classic in Greenville, NC was cancelled due to weather, news of a 3-game series featuring Michigan and Tennessee Tech leaked last night.
It has been confirmed. Michigan will face Tennessee Tech at Grayson Stadium in Savannah, Georgia. Home of the Savannah Sand Gnats.
The Sand Gnats are the single A affiliate of the New York Mets, Fred Wilpon's team.
After this weekend series against TTU, Michigan will head down to their home-away-from-home in Port St. Lucie, Florida at Tradition Field, spring home to the Mets where Michigan has played a 4-game series every year for the last decade.
After two debacles in a row out at Long Beach State against the Dirtbags that resulted in 3-2 and 7-2 losses to open the season, Michigan avoided getting swept earlier and picked up their first win of the this young 2015 season.
Thankfully it was not a repeat of Friday night. Michigan broke a scorless tie in the 4th inning off of a Eric Jacobson single to claim a 3-0 lead. However, in the bottom of the 9th, Long Beach State tied the game at 3 after Michigan held a 3-2 for the majority of the game.
Thankfully, preseason All-American Jacob Cronenworth hit a 2-run homer in the top of the 10th to give Michigan a 5-3 lead an ultimately the win.
Michigan will head back across the country to Greenville, NC for the Keith LeClair Classic. Michigan will face #25 Liberty on Friday, East Carolina on Saturday in a road game and St. John's on Sunday.
Sad news, as Dave Bergman, one of the '84 Bless You Boys has passed away too soon at age 61. Acquired right before the start of the magical '84 season, Bergman was the everyday first baseman except when spelled from time to time by Darrel Evans.
He may not have had the star power of some of the other guys on that team, but he had some great moments.
I'm a bad embedder, so here are links to a couple great memories:

Bless you, Mr. Bergman. You were part of an amazing summer that many of us will never forget.
