"He's a hard worker, and he watched me and Tim (Hardaway Jr.) and Nik (Stauksas) put work in to become (first-round picks), and I'm just happy he's getting better," Burke said. "It's great for the program, too. It shows what type of program the University of Michigan is and the direction it continues to go in."
Like the title says, Puck Daddy interviewed Carl here
They touch on playing college hockey, the Big Chill, and being a fan favorite at Yost. Nothing new but also cool to read about Carl. Here's to yelling BORK for 2 more days!
Anybody interested in joining a Mgoblog league? I know there was one created on yahoo about a month ago, but I'm going to create one on ESPN for those who either didn't join that one or want to join another.
I'm thinking about having 16 teams with four divisions. Eight teams will make the playoffs which will take place during weeks 22-24. Teams will play the other teams in their division three times and the other 12 teams once.
The draft is currently set for tomorrow (Wednesday) at 10 PM EST. If you are interested, post here and send me an e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org with you're mgoblog username and I'll send you an invite.
This seems really weird, but St. Mary's has a game after their conference tournament. It seems like they're considered a lock now despite losing their conference tournament, but what if they lose to Weber State? Could that knock them off? Weber seems to be pretty crappy with an above 100 RPI, could even winning this game hurt their resume?
Also, has a team ever scheduled a game after their conference tournament before this?
With Spring Training in full swing, and the regular season in the on-deck circle I thought this handy-dandy flow chart would help any of those folks out there unsure as to who to root for once the season starts:
For the record, I will punch you in the face if you look at me funny.
Edit: Sorry for the size. For whatever reason, the image doesn't want to respond to the size limits I put on it.
Edit edit: See Misopogon's post if you didn't get to the link in time.
With spring training games underway, baseball is clearly in the air. I participated last year in a user created MGoLeague and I thought it was a lot of fun. I was wondering if people were interested again this year and if perhaps certain individuals would like to talk about said league and try optimize league rules to best suit everyones enjoyment. Hell, a dynasty league could even be set up. So this is just to gauge general interest, I believe it was Blueokie that took the initiative last year and did a damn fine job. Thank you for that.
** I went ahead and created a Yahoo league Head to Head. With a few suggestions I went with simple stats and simple lineups. One suggestions was for divisions with 20 teams total. I Decided to give it a shot and just create the league. Join if interested. Sorry for those that were interested in roto or ESPN. Draft time is negotiable, as are a few rules. I figure we can hash that out once people have joined. If we can't get 20 we'll simple reduce the number of teams.
League ID 113011
On second thought I've reduced it to two divisions with 14 teams. If we have increased enthusiasm maybe we'll bump it up. But managers more experienced than I, make some good points about having so many people.
Going into today Michigan had an RPI number of 67. After our win at Minny today our RPI jumped 10 spots to 57. Other numbers to note:
MSU (RPI 37)
Penn State (RPI 55)
Harvard (RPI 45)
Clemson (RPI 69)
Minnesota (RPI 61 - was previously 46)
Good day for us. A win at MSU hopefully should jump us another 5-10 spots and put us around where Minny was going into today. As most of you know Minny was in the tournie until today still as the last 4 in.
