An enormously generous gesture by the Ohio State baseball team. When one freshman teammate needed a bone marrow transplant for leukemia, the entire team voluntarily signed up to check for transplant matches.
I hate Ohio as much as the next guy, but thought I'd post this to bring real life into perspective. Beautiful stuff.
[ED:BISB - Edited because when they're trying to save someone drom leukemia you can call them Ohio State. In fact, you should probably do it anyway]
Doing some research for my Baseball guide I'm building.
I have found a somewhat disturbing stat from the 1886 season.
On May 2nd, Michigan played someone named Hiawatha. They went on to score 75 runs on them in a 75-10 win.
Obviously, there is very limited information on Baseball since I've been planning some trips to Bentley to dig up some info on Michigan's oldest sport, but this is something I really thought was a typo it is so outrageous.
This is not the only instance of Michigan pouring it on someone. In 1881, they beat Dexter 40-17. However, Michigan lost to the Detroit Detroits, 28-0 earlier in the year. BASEBALL.
Other incredible scores:
- 1866- Michigan 61 Jackson 41........BASEBALL
- 1867- Michigan 70 Detroit-Mercy 18.....
Michigan-Jackson's 61-41 creation in 1866 wasn't the only time it happened.....it happened again in 1905 with the same score.
Great way to conclude the B1G regular season! Michigan finishes 13-11 and most likely will have the 5 seed in the B1G Tournament.
Michigan is now .500 on the season at 26-26-1.
Evan Hill pitched a GREAT game. 8 innings scoreless. ohio tacked one on in the 9th when Cronenworth came in for the save.
Michigan is now 12-11 in the B1G. They've already clinched the B1G Tournament berth.
The deciding game of the series will be at Noon on BTN tomorrow.
The Wolverines look to continue their 4 game winning streak with a win today vs. the Buckeyes. Game is at 6 pm on WTKA radio.
With a 7-4 victory today, Michigan is now 24-25-1. Next game up is Ohio on friday.
