OT - Detroit Tigers vs KC Royals Open Thread: I suggest you tune in
Currently 0-0 in the bottom of the 6th. FIster is pitching a great game, everyone needs to turn on their tvs and watch this game.
OT: 8/25 Tigers/general baseball open thread
Chat it up, folks. The Tigers vs. Rays are underway for the finale of a 4-game series in Tampa. Detroit is going for the 3-1 series win, Tampa Bay is looking for the split. Fister is on the hill for us, and he's going up against Jeremy Hellickson.
Austin Jackson leads off the game with a homer! Nice way to start off the game.
OT: Tigers/Rays 8/24 GDT. (and other games too)
Game 3 of the Tigers-Rays series tonight. Max Scherzer vs Wade Davis is tonight's pitching matchup. In other action, the Indians are facing the Mariners right now. It is 2-2 after 4 innings of play.
OT: 8/23 MLB Open Thread
Alright so it's a slow Tuesday afternoon, the Tigers have game 2 against the Rays tonight, and the Indians are playing game 1 of a day/night doubleheader right now. I don't know about you, but I'm pretty excited about the fact that we could lose tonight and still increase our lead over the Indians (although they're currently winning 4-3 in the 9th... EDIT: Dang, Seattle takes the lead in the 9th, then Choo hits a walk-off, three-run homer for Cleveland. Oh well).
Some topics for discussion:
- Rick Porcello: do you think he can turn things around come October? Was July a fluke, or does he have what it takes to be a post-season contributor this year?
- Catcher depth: what should the Tigers do to get Avila some rest while Martinez's knee continues to heal? Is Avila a robot, thus making that question a moot point?
- AL Central title: for the Tigers fans, are you more worried about the Indians, or the ChiSox? For Sox and Indians fans, do you think either of your teams have what it takes to overcome a 5.5 game deficit?
DISCUSS.
OT: Tigers Recall Inge (Commence Leyland Bashing)
Title about says it all... To make room for Inge Tigers sent Andy Dirks (Batting .257 with .730 OPS and 97 OPS+)
The sad thing is Inge hasn't even been tearing it up down in Toldeo. (Batting .287 and 19 RBI in 29 games)
The part that really kills me is we traded for Betemit he is hitting .300+ in a Tigers uniform and now we have three 3B on the roster.

OT- David Schoenfield telling us what we already knew about Leyland (but with numbers!)
I have always felt that every cheer of support for Jim Leyland comes with a disclaimer.
"I love Leyland!.. butttttt he doesn't play small ball."
"I love Leyland!... but why is Craig Monroe still in the outfield?!"
And most relevant for this season:
"I love Leyland!... but why is Jhonny Peralta batting 8th today?"
In this short ESPN article, David Schoenfield addresses Jim Leyland's consistently questionable batting lineups:
