Thank you all for coming along for another season with me! This is one of my favorite things to do every Fall. :) We'll start our weekend with relatively quiet weather conditions and hopefully adding a win to our list of things we're thankful for! A low pressure system well to the north will bring a cold front through Friday night. It looks to be a mainly dry front, bringing us clouds, and a few spotty showers overnight. A secondary cold front coming through in the afternoon will keep us cool & breezy Saturday with plenty of clouds and scattered showers/flurries. Let's go blue!  

Tailgating

Temperatures won't be too bad overnight and if you're up and out there early! Thanks to SW winds holding for most of the overnight, we'll start the day in the mid 40s. Winds will shift to the WNW early in the morning at around 10mph (enough to rustle the leaves, blow around paper) and give us wind chills in the mid 30s. Fantastic day for all of those crockpot recipes! Winds will pick up into the afternoon, so especially if you're leaving your tent up through the game, you'll want to tie it down. Sunrise time is just after 7:30am, but don't expect to see a whole ton of it. Mostly cloudy conditions will carry through our tailgate time, and there's a small chance for a passing rain shower. 

Kickoff

44 degrees for this lunchtime start! Not too bad - pretty close to where we should be for this time of year. Plenty of clouds remain for the first half, and some drizzle or a pop up shower continues to be a slight possibility. Winds will pick up to 15mph, gusting to the mid 20s - you'd see a lot of white horses on the water, small trees will sway - out of the WNW. This will take our temps and make it feel like the mid 30s!   

Halftime

Bummer we couldn't have our beautiful Friday weather today - but this is Midwest football right? We're tough! Aaaand we also know that the bulk box of hand warmers at Costco is the way to go this time of year. We drop a degree or two by the half and into the second part of the game. It'll continue to feel colder with wind chills remaining in the mid 30s. I'll take a hot chocolate at the break for this one! NW winds are up around 15-17mph, gusting to the mid 20s (you may catch an empty plastic garbage can tipped over with gusts like this). We'll get a little sun, but some clouds will stay with us as we finish out the game. The chance for a spotty shower hangs on.  

Post-Game

Temperatures will continue to fall as we leave the stadium. 40 for that walk to the car (feeling like the low 30s), and if you're planning on grabbing some dinner, we'll drop to the mid 30s (wind chill of 30) - but we do at least get rid of the wind gusts. We'll have some breaks in the cloud cover, and that will help us to turn cold quickly through the night. By the later evening hours temps will be in the lower 30s. Staying out late? You'll be wishing those hand warmers still worked if you're stuck outside waiting for that one friend who takes forever. We're near 30 temperature-wise, but wind chills will have it feeling closer to 20! Yuck. Winds will be at around 10mph out of the WNW. They will remain at around 5-10mph for Sunday when we'll get some sun and see highs back in the low 40s - great travel weather! Go blue!

Thanks for the fantastic comments last week! You're all too kind, and funny - I was cracking up!! You might not be having a good chuckle at this weather though - our dreary stretch continues here at home and in Wisconsin. You'll want to dress warm & have a tent to duck under for tailgating, or bring the rain gear if you plan on kickin' it at Game Day in the morning. A strengthening low pressure system working through the Lower Great Lakes will bring rain tonight into Saturday morning, with a transition to snow, and then we have to deal with the cold & wind. Lots of eyes on this game guys; let's ruin Wisconsin's perfect season! C'mon blue! 

If you're traveling...

Tailgating

Early birds (sunrise time is around 7am) will want the raincoat or poncho for this one, along with setting up that tent! & ladies it's a day to forget about looking super cute - you'll want the waterproof mascara and the hair back in a hat. Woohoo! Showers move in Friday afternoon, continue overnight, and then remain for Saturday morning - so you probably want the boots, too. And pick the warmer rain boots! Temps will be running in the mid 30s and will remain pretty steady through the game. Winds will be out of the NNW at around 15mph, gusting to the mid 20s (small trees sway, you'd see a lot of white horses on the water) - so make sure to tie down the tent! Remember last week how you could hold your hot drink in your bare hands? Yeah no, not so much this week. The added wind will make it feel more like the mid and upper 20s throughout the morning. Rain will turn to more of a mix and then snow by mid-morning.

Kickoff

Not a pretty kickoff weather-wise. 36 degrees for the start, with a NNW wind at 17mph, gusting to 30mph (empty garbage cans may tip over, it can be tough to use an umbrella) - so we're keeping wind chills in the mid 20s! Cloudy skies will stay with us, and you may see a flurry or two.   

Halftime

Raise your hand if you want to go back to last week! Hopefully you wore enough layers or brought those little hand warmers - and you might want to hit up that hot chocolate stand on the break! We're still cloudy, still cold, and still windy at the halfway point. The good news is - we'll start drying out! You may even see a few breaks in the clouds to finish out the game. Temperatures will still be in the mid 30s with that NNW wind howling near 20mph, gusting around 30mph, so yeah, we keep our wind chills in the mid 20s.

Post-Game

Not getting much of a change as we head into the end of this game, or really the rest of the day/night. Well, we'll get colder. Ugh. Our mid 30s to end the game will turn to low 30s by dinner-time, and then drop to the upper 20s by last call. On top of that, we have those winds! Steady winds will stay up at 15mph or so with gusts at least in the mid 20s until after midnight. This means it'll feel like the low 20s for your dinner plans and mid teens by the time you're calling uber! Yeesh. We'll have partly cloudy skies, and those will continue into the early morning before we turn mostly sunny - so decent weather to leave Madison if you traveled. Go blue!

If you're staying home...

Sigh. I think I'll be cool (well, warm) with staying inside for most of the day Saturday! That same strong low pressure system will impact us too. We'll have rain starting this evening, possibly a thunderstorm, and continuing overnight into Saturday. Passing rain showers stick around most of the day with a late transition to a few flurries. You'll notice a change if you're headed somewhere to watch the game. Temperatures will be in the mid 40s to lower 50s for the morning and the game's start with a southerly wind around 10mph (leaves are rustling). By the time the game ends, we'll fall to the mid 40s and winds will be out of the NW at 15-20mph. We keep cloudy skies, the chance for rain, and temperatures in the mid 30s for your dinner hours and late-night. Winds will be up to around 25mph, with gusts to 40mph (it can be harder to walk) possible overnight into Sunday - little "ruff" for whoever has to take the dog out last! Sunday we have a hard time breaking out of the lower 30s, but we'll get some sun and a few flurries with breezy winds (15mph, gusts to mid 20s) - the toughest part of your drive back will be closer to Lake Michigan with lake effect snow.

Alrighty friends, I legitimately appreciate constructive criticism - it makes me better at my job. But for weeks now one person has repeatedly voted down on the forecast without any explanation - that's right UM Fan from Sydney, I'm callin' you out. If you don't tell me what you're unhappy with, I can't improve upon that aspect of the forecast, and you'll continue to be unhappy, so let's solve this problem right quick - please leave a comment regarding the reasoning behind your weekly unsatisfaction. Now let's get to the forecast! The good news is - we've had mild games and we've had cold games, and this one will be just a little chilly. The better news - especially after last week - we'll be dry! High five to that! :) High pressure will be right over the east coast, keeping us under sunny skies with light winds. Still a good day for the cozy sweatshirt and warm boots, but overall pretty pleasant! A huge thank you to all of those who have or are serving our country - we can never thank you enough!!

If you're traveling...

Tailgating

Yeah it's a November tailgate alright! Temps in the morning will be around 30 degrees! Thanks to a light northerly breeze, it'll feel like the mid 20s. Luckily we'll have tons of sunshine (the sun rises here at about 6:45am), and that will carry all the way through the morning and lunchtime. By midday, winds will shift to the NE and barely be enough to feel on your skin. Temperatures by then will be nearing 40, and it won't be too bad with the sun! Perfect day for the crockpot meals and taking the gloves off to hold your hot drink in your hands! 

Kickoff

A beautiful Fall football start! 41 degrees for the first kick! There will be a couple of clouds in that blue sky with a very light wind - almost nil - out of the east. That sun makes such a difference! Good move to have an away game today; thanks schedule!  

Halftime

We fall just a couple of degrees by the half. It'll be a fantastic end to the afternoon - a few clouds, no wind, upper 30s - not too shabby! I'd still probably grab a hot chocolate at the middle point though! Reminder that you're further east here, so the sun will set a couple of minutes before 5pm.  

Post-Game

Conditions will stay relatively constant as we end the game (with a win!) and if you're headed out for evening plans. Mid 30s to leave the stadium with no breeze and a cloud here and there across the sky. Staying out for a celebratory go blue dinner? As you're finishing dinner and walking back to the car, we'll drop to the lower 30s. You'll also notice, particularly if you're staying out late, that we see more clouds move in. This will help to keep temps steady, hovering right around freezing, until last call. We then keep some clouds around for Sunday with highs around 50 degrees. Go blue!

If you're staying home...

Anyone look at the wind chills Friday and decide to go to Maryland on a whim? Brr it's cold! We'll be warmer on Saturday vs Friday, but when you think that we should still be seeing temps near 50 this time of year, ehhh that's little consolation! Saturday morning will be chilly but we do rebound to the mid 30s in the afternoon - so not terrible if you're walking (power walking) over to the neighbor's party. We'll have a decent amount of clouds with a SSE wind at 5-10mph (enough to rustle leaves). Sunday our next system moves in, bringing scattered mix and rain. If you'll be arriving back in the afternoon it should be all rain by then.

UPDATE : While rain showers looked to be more scattered yesterday, models are showing more widespread passing showers this afternoon and evening, into the late-night before we briefly dry out. The forecast below is updated, but basically just keep your rain gear with you today! :) Also, there is a chance for severe storms Sunday afternoon - please stay weather aware. 

After a beautiful Friday, our next low pressure system begins to move in from the plains and works with extra waves of energy in the higher levels of the atmosphere to bring us clouds and scattered showers this weekend. I'd keep the rain gear handy for this one - it won't rain in A2 all afternoon and evening, but showers passing through on and off are expected! Despite not having sun for tailgating or this night game, temps aren't lookin' too shabby! We'll be on the milder side through the day, the game, and tomorrow. Let's beat Minnesota!   

Tailgating

Overall it'll be a pretty gray tailgate day (I didn't mention scarlet, but is that bad karma in November? Let's just say a blah day to be on the safe side!). If you're an all-dayer and out there early or running to grab the forgotten buns for hot dogs, it'll be chilly! We're starting the morning in the mid 30s with a NE wind around 5mph (just enough to feel a breeze) - it's not much but it will be enough to give us a wind chill in the lower 30s. We'll reach the mid 40s for lunchtime with plenty of clouds and an E wind at 10-15mph (enough to rustle leaves in the trees, blow about loose papers). As we go through the afternoon, we'll hit highs around 50 and also bring in the chance for some showers. It's looking quite possible you'll run into a shower at some point, so you might want that tent up just in case. We'll slowly fall to the upper 40s as you're packing up the tailgate and getting ready to walk through the gates. Reminder that the sun sets a little before 6:30pm and it'll be cloudy, so plan accordingly if you need to have a flashlight to pack up! Winds will shift a bit to the ESE.   

Kickoff

Lucky for us - we get to be a little milder Saturday night! 47 for our kickoff - not bad at all for an early November night game! It will be overcast with rain likely - could have some good downpours as we start this game. Don't forget the poncho! Winds will be out of the ESE at about 6-7mph.  

Halftime

Temperatures will stay relatively steady through the first half. We only lose a degree or two by the middle of the game. All of our clouds want to stay around for the second half, as does our chance at rain. That chance has increased from Friday, and we now look to see showers on and off to finish out the game, so even if there's a break at the half don't throw your poncho away while you get a snack (c'mon now those things are expensive you don't want to have to buy another one!). Winds will gradually lighten to about 5mph, staying out of the ESE, so we don't have to factor in much of an extra chill. 

Post-Game

Staying out late? Our chance for rain will lessen the later you're out, but we are going to keep the cloud cover. Temperatures will at least stay pretty constant in the mid 40s. Winds will be light, gradually turning more southerly. And hey - why not head out on the town? We get an extra hour to celebrate that win! If you're then going out for some late-night snacks after last-last call, you'll notice the temps start to rise. Sunday morning's temps will be in the low 50s! Afternoon highs for Sunday will get into the lower 60s, but rain showers are likely - along with possible severe thunderstorms. Let's go blue!!!

We'll be on the backside of a low pressure system exiting to the NE for Saturday. This means that after some rain Friday, we look to be pretty dry. There will be lake effect rain showers, so there is the small chance they'll work across the state and bring a few raindrops to our neighborhood. It also means we'll be cooler - wind chills in the 30s - so you might want to bring along that cozy hoodie and the warmer coat! 

Tailgating

Woooeee you'll want to keep a warm drink in your hand! We're starting off early tomorrow with temps right where they should be for this time of year - chilly! Mid 30s if you're out there when the sun comes up (about 8am) with a light breeze out of the SW near 10mph - enough to rustle the leaves. It doesn't sound like much, but it'll be enough to keep it feeling like 30 degrees! Brrr! Hopefully you have some peeps signed up to bring hot food to your tailgate! By mid-morning we'll only be up to 40, and with a SW wind up into the low teens (leaves are in constant motion) it'll feel like the mid 30s. Throughout the morning we'll keep a slight chance for a rain shower and lots of clouds. Keep in mind that even if it isn't raining, that golf course ground may be a little soggy so you might want to grab the boots! 

Kickoff

Starting this game at 41 degrees! We'll at least get a little sunshine between the clouds so that will make it a bit better! Winds will pick up a bit, remaining out of the SW at 15mph, gusting into the low 20s (you'd see white horses on the water, small trees may sway). This will keep wind chills running in the mid 30s. 

Halftime

I vote for hot chocolate! And maybe volunteering to stand in line to get a little break from the breeze. And since I'm in line, I think I have to add on nachos and a pretzel. ;) Temps are in the low 40s and they'll stay that way for the rest of the game. Winds, still out of the SW, are also sticking with us, so it will continue to feel like the upper 30s. Gusts into the low 20s remain possible for the entire second half with steady winds near 15mph. We'll continue to have plenty of clouds around and the small chance for a light rain shower - but most likely we'll be dry. 

Post-Game

After staying warm cheering your heart out for that win, you're walking out of the gates in the low 40s (feels like upper 30s) with some clouds. Not a bad game to have enjoyed inside at your buddy's house if you couldn't get a ticket! Staying in town to grab some dinner or hit up a weekend Halloween party? We'll drop to around 40 by the time you're finishing up your meal. Winds into the mid evening will be around 15mph out of the SW - so at least we lose the gusts! If you're taking a breather and heading out later, by 11pm temps will be back in the mid 30s (feels like low 30s). Mainly overcast for Saturday night, and winds lighten to around 5mph for that last call. Hopefully you have a warm costume (haha yeaaah this is college) for the walk home or waiting for that Uber as late-night temps will be around 35 degrees! If you traveled for the game, we'll have some clouds and some sun and mid 40s for Sunday! Go blue!

High pressure slowly drifting out of Pennsylvania and into Virginia keeps us under clear skies with light winds for this game! And a warm front to the north will bring in some mild air. The normal high and low temps here in PA are 60/40 - and we'll be above them! You'll want layers for tailgating and the game, but overall expect a pretty pleasant day. Let's go blue! Leave them not so happy in Happy Valley!

If you're traveling to State College...

Tailgating

Similar to here at home, if you're up early it will be cool. We'll start the beginning of the day at around 50 degrees with just a couple of clouds. Luckily winds will be very light and we won't have to add in an extra chill. Lunchtime tailgating will be perfect for those Fall favorites - chili anyone? Temps by then will be in the mid 60s with light and variable winds, and we'll still have just a few clouds. You'll start to notice a bit more cloud cover throughout the afternoon, but we'll continue to have plenty of sun and we won't see any rain. Highs will hit the low 70s on Saturday with winds staying light, but gradually taking on a SSE direction. We'll start to drop back to the upper 60s as we finish out the late afternoon. 

Kickoff

Partly cloudy as this game gets underway in Beaver Stadium - should make for a fantastic sunset! Winds will still be very light out of the SSE. Temperatures aren't bad, but we're starting the game at 62 degrees and they'll keep slowly falling throughout the game - so if you get cold easily, probably a good move to bring that extra long-sleeve along if you aren't wearing it already. 

Halftime

By the halfway point, we'll drop into the upper 50s, then lose a couple more degrees through the second half. This is one of those games where you stand there wondering if you want a cold drink or a warm one! Winds stay out of the SSE, very light, so we don't have to factor in a wind chill. There will still be some clouds across the sky but you'll see plenty of stars in between.  

Post-Game

Some clouds, some stars as you leave the game with that win! Winds are still very light, out of the SSE, and they're perfectly cool to just stay that way through the night and into tomorrow. Temperatures - yeah they're kinda cool, too - literally, just kinda cool. We'll have upper 50s as the game ends, falling to the low 50s if you're staying out late just to rub that loss in for the Nittany Lions! It's a similar forecast for Sunday here, so not too bad if you're traveling. The later in the day you wait to leave, you may run into a shower if you'll be arriving back to the mitten in the evening. 

If you're in Ann Arbor...

Low 50s and a few clouds to start off our Saturday. You'll notice more clouds fill in during the afternoon, but we'll keep some sun around with highs around 75 degrees. Winds will be southerly all day at 5-10mph - just enough to get the leaves rustling a bit. By gametime, we'll be in the mid 60s, and we only fall to near 60 as you're heading back home or saying goodbye to guests - unless you get stuck with that annoying friend who won't leave... then we'll see more mid 50s by late-night. Sunday brings back 70s, but also more clouds and rain arriving in the later-day hours. It'll also be a little more windy Sunday afternoon with S winds at 15mph (small branches move) gusting to around 25mph (small trees sway, empty garbage cans may tip over). C'mon blue!
