I'VE HAD JUST ABOUT ENOUGH OF YOU SONNY
There's probably going to be a lot of offers and news happening in the near future. I'm trying to figure out the best way to get it out timely and efficiently. For now, here's this.
WR Curtric "Spiffy" Evans was offered according to TheRinger.com. Spiffy is a 6-foot, 175-pound wide receiver from Chaminade Madonna High in Florida.
He's teammates with QB Jerrard Randall, and recently offered Johnathan Aiken, among others.
I've spoken with him before this. The first time, he ended the conversation with Go Blue! He loves the tradition. I'll have more from him tomorrow night.
Here's his highlight video:
Updates for the week of 5/5:
6'3, 190 lbs.
Jajuan recently told me that Michigan is in his early top ten. It's pretty early for him, so he doesn't have anything official yet. When asked if he was going to try to visit Michigan, this was his response.
"I definitely want to try to make it up to Michigan. I might have to use an official to get up there. I like them, though, so we'll see."
As always, the video of good plays:
6'2, 281 lbs.
McReynolds is easily one of the top defensive tackles in the country, and has to be one of the hardest working prospects. He has over 19 offers, and I would expect that list to continue to grow. Although Michigan has not offered yet, they were in town to see Kevin practice today, as you can see by his tweet below.
just workout for USC , Kansas State and Michigan .
Michigan will most likely offer McReynolds soon, and I have a feeling that they would receive a visit from the DC native. He had previously told me that if Michigan offers, they would be a school to make his list.
5'9, 170 lbs.
Ryan is right in Michigan's backyard, but there must be a tall fence, because he hasn't heard too much from his neighbors. Griffin told me that he's starting to hear a lot from some big name schools like Tennessee, Alabama, Nebraska, Wisonsin, UCLA, and others. Despite having any offers yet, his recruitment should start picking up soon.
"I plan on traveling with Raw Talent this summer, which I think has Michigan on the schedule. If my schedule allows me to go to one of their one day camps, then I will."
Raw Talent is a group that travels to various camps on the east and west coast, and is based out of Ohio. Doran Grant will be another member of the Raw Talent group. His highlight video can be seen here.
6'4, 225 lbs.
Wormley is a prospect for the 2012 class, but is already being talked about as one of the best players in Ohio. His size is an instant standout, since he's only a sophomore. I asked Chris about his feelings towards Michigan, and here's his response.
"Michigan is my favorite right now, definitely. There are some other schools like Ohio State and Cincinnati that have been staying in touch. I'd like to hear more from Michigan soon. I think I'll probably end up at Michigan, but those other schools could make a push."
It's probably going to be a little while before we hear anything new, but Wormley is one to keep an eye on.
6'6, 255 lbs.
Fort Pierce, FL
Giorgio is one of the better defensive line prospects out there, and he's also being recruited by some schools for offensive line. His versatility makes him special, but his size makes everything come together for him. With the height and weight he carries, Newberry still reports a 4.7 time in the 40. Good news here is that Rod Smith will be at Fort Pierce to watch Giorgio practice on Friday. Michigan is recruiting Newberry for the defensive side of the ball, but would obviously let him play where ever he fits best. It's too early for top lists, but he told me that he has definite interest in Michigan. His film is inside this link.
5'10, 171 lbs.
Nick Waisome has offers from pretty much everywhere, including Arizona, Florida, Arkansas, Florida State, North Carolina, and Stanford among others. Waisome received a visit from Coach Rod Smith today. Not only does Nick have ideal size, but he also boasts a blazing 40 time of 4.44. I asked Nick if he was going to make a visit up to Michigan, and he said he thinks he will, but he's not sure. It's difficult for the prospects from Florida to commit to a trip, because of cost and time. He hasn't been talked about a lot here, but we might hear his name more. I have a feeling he might stick close to home, but here's his highlight tape, as well.
I spoke with AJ Jordan (WR/Trotwood, OH) today, and he told me that he'd like to commit to a school before his senior season starts. When I asked him if Michigan will be that school, he said, "There's a good chance it might be them."
AJ is going to try to make it up for the BBQ on the 21st, but might have a track meet on the same day.
To offer my two cents, I really like Jordan, I think he'd be a really good addition as a wide receiver to complement what we already have.
Here's his highlight video.
LB Lamar Dawson, from Danville, Kentucky also received an offer. I spoke with him today, and he told me that it's too early for a top list, but Michigan is definitely in the mix. He's going to try to make it up for a visit soon. He and his coaches are going to sit down, and figure out a schedule.
Here's his highlight video.
WR Darius Patton also received an offer sometime last week. Darius now holds offers from Michigan, MSU, West Virginia, Toledo, Boston College, Cincinnati, Wisconsin, Indiana, Bowling Green, and Miami of Ohio.
I spoke with Darius, and he's VERY excited about the Michigan offer. He said that Michigan is in his top group, right now. Michigan is going to try to get him on campus soon. He's going to try to make it up in the summer.
He's also friends, and former teammates with current Michigan signee Cullen Christian.
Here's his highlight video.
Michigan is now his tenth offer along with Duke, Ball State, Wisconsin, Boston College, Cincinnati, Minnesota, Air Force, West Virginia, and Ohio. It seems like Sean's recruitment is starting to pick up heavily, as he's also hearing from Notre Dame.
Since he's from Cincinnati, he's obviously a hometown favorite. There's a lot of talk about him within that area, and I think it's a really good find early on for these coaches. Looking at some of the other linebackers that have been offered, it looks like Duggan might be one of the better options to land, at this point.
I would have to assume Michigan would want him on campus for the Big House BBQ, though. I will try to get more as soon as i can.
**EDIT: Update from his coach, Steve Specht:**
I spoke with Sean's coach, and he had some really great things to say about him. Most kids say that academics are important to them, but it seems like that really holds true for Sean. "He's a 4.0 student, and just a tremendous kid. His top 5 consists of Michigan, Cincinnati, Wake Forest, Duke, and Boston College. Academics is really a priority for him. His parents have done a great job raising him, and he just so happens to be a hell of a football player," said coach Specht.
Duggan's recruitment has recently started to take off, which has surprised both him and his coach. "As far as visits go this summer, I don't even think Sean knows what he's going to be doing after his lacrosse game tonight. We didn't think recruiting would blow up for him this soon. We figured it would be during the season. He's still trying to digest this, and wants to finish strong with school and lacrosse," Specht told me.
As far as Duggan on the field, his coach thinks that his best football is still ahead of him. "He's a huge effort guy, he's a worker, and he always wants to get better. He practices hard, he's smart, and likes to study the game. His upside is huge. He's pushing 6'5" and already has over 215 pounds on him. He played all three linebacker spots for us, and is just learning the positions. He really could play a 5 tech on the line, or even tight end. He's very athletic, and is capable of putting on a lot of weight. The opportunities are endless for him, and his best football is yet to come. I really believe that," said Specht.
Here's a look at his highlight video:
DT Mickey Johnson, out of Covington, LA received an offer yesterday. Fred Jackson was in Johnson's school, and extended the offer. Mickey wasn't able to speak with coach Jackson, because of NCAA rules, but he told me he noticed a "big ring" on his finger, that caught his attention.
He doesn't have a favorite list yet, but he said he definitely likes Michigan. "The fact that they were a powerhouse before, and have a good chance of getting back there is great," said Johnson.
Johnson has over 26 offers now, and said that he might have to use an official visit if he wants to see Michigan in person. "If my dad isn't home, then I would probably use an official. If he's home, then I think we'd be able to make the drive," Mickey told me.
Weighing in at 6-foot-1, and 310 pounds, Johnson is a big defensive tackle prospect, and would fit nicely into what Michigan is looking for. Here are some impressive videos for you to look at.....before you watch them I should tell you that he owns the state record for bench pressing 450 lbs, and can also squat 700 lbs. Proceed to the videos.
