I'm usually pretty spry when it comes to obtaining Michigan football tickets at a reasonable price. But the task before me is a bit bigger than my expertise:

The day before my wedding is the Bowling Green game (Sept. 25). I'd like to get tickets for the male side of the wedding party (8 including me) plus a few more for out-of-towners. Preferably, I'd like to get the 8 together, but if I have to separate folks I can.

Where do I start? Are there ever that many individual tickets purchaseable after the season tickets go out? Should I just camp out at websites and grab everything in a section?

I didn't get my own tickets this season because between the wedding and honeymoon and work trips and fall sailing I wouldn't use most of 'em. This is good because I can be anywhere in the stadium (instead of searching for all Section 20s), but bad because that's 2 more shares of bench space I need to obtain.

Just called the UM ticket office... no details are available for the Cold War 2 ticket purchase yet... end of February expect first press release and details on pricing and availability. I'm going to also call the alumni association and put a bug in the ear of them to get in on this to offer tickets to local alumni associations first, similar to the football ticket packages.

I'm not here looking to buy/sell tickets for the Michigan-Wisconsin outdoor game in February, but to find out where good pockets of UM fans will be sitting so I can determine the best section in which to buy tickets.
I'm generally looking along either sideline as I believe I've heard the rink will be between both 17 yard lines and between the hash marks. But as I think most people would prefer, I'm hoping to sit in a group of Michigan fans, not amidst a bunch of Wisconsin students.
So out of curiosity, for those planning to go to the game that have or are buying tickets, where are you sitting? Thanks to everybody that responds for your help.

So, I have been to a great number of games in the big house, but they have always been "smaller" games. A lot of OOC games against MAC teams, and the Wisky game during DOOM (yes, a fantastic win, but nobody knew that going in. Place was dead.).

I want to attend a big game. One where the place is rocking like the madhouse it was for the last quarter of that Wisky game, except with 110,000 still in the stands. This year, I have two options for that, I think. MSU or HC versus Iowa. I am at a loss as to which one I should try to do. I leave it to you, MGoBoard!

I just got an email from the ticket office offering me a reduced rate on purchasing Michigan/OSU basketball tickets (as having purchased single-game tickets last season). Starting today until 8am Dec 21st, for $10 each you can buy up to 4 tickets in the upper bowl. After that, tickets go on sale to the general public.

I'm not one for rehashing press releases, but this information is timely and would be lost in a second on the board. Per mgoblue:

Volleyball season ticket holders can purchase tickets beginning Tuesday, Dec. 1, at 8:30 a.m. by calling the U-M Ticket Office. Tickets will be available to the public by phone, internet and in person at the U-M Ticket Office beginning Tuesday, Dec. 1, at 1 p.m. Seating is general admission. All tickets will be held at will call. Advanced sales are all-session tickets only. Single-Session tickets must be purchased at the door. Doors open one hour prior to the event.

Everyone (except children under two) must have a ticket. The first 500 U-M students with a valid Mcard will be admitted free and must pick up a ticket at the arena by 7:30 p.m. Faculty and staff are NOT admitted free with Mcards for postseason events.

All-Session tickets are priced at $10 for an adult, $6 for seniors and students, and $4 for children 3-12 (children two years and under free with paid adult). Single-Session tickets are $6 for adults, $5 for seniors and students, and $4 for children 3-12 (children two years and under free with paid adult).

Emphasis mine. There is a good chance that all the full session seats will sell out in the first few hours.

Notre Dame will play Ohio at 5:30pm on Friday, and their game should end before Michigan takes the court. I've got an email into the volleyball SID to ask about how many single session tickets will be reserved and if they (single session tickets for Michigan/Niagara) will be available an hour before the ND/Ohio game or an hour before our game, and I'll update here when I hear back.

As for you students, there's a good chance the 500 may go quickly. I suggest getting there a little early if you want to get in for free.
