[UPDATE 8/26/2014 from Seth:]
While the ticket spreadsheet was awesome for its time, we've known for some time that it's subject to abuse, and more likely to be damaged the more our community has grown. We've been on the lookout for some way to add a layer of security that's still free on both ends. Now we have that!
Go here: http://www.tiqiq.com/sellerdirect and sign in with your Facebook account. Then list your tickets, put MGoBlog somewhere in your description if you like, then copy the link to your tickets and paste on the spreadsheet.
Nobody's forced to use that system. This is just a protection for sellers so their price can't be changed, and for buyers so they know they're dealing with a real human with a name and pictures of their cat.
To go along with the 'more informative headlines' theme, this thread will hopefully get set as a sticky. I have made a spreadsheet listing all people selling and looking for tickets.. http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0Avnckx2kNv9GdGVPQXBQMDZQdFJ4RTJS... Basketball season is here.. I've started up a new sheet in the document for basketball. Ive made the permissions open to anyone to edit, so we'll try the trust method for a while until someone abuses. Feel free to post what you are looking for or selling. If it gets abused, I'll go back to the method of requiring someone to email me and then posting.
Thinking of making the drive down Wednesday, does anyone have any experience/idea of when tickets are gonna be cheapest? At the moment, all of the reseller sites (stubhub, etc.) have just a few ridiculously priced tickets. Face value is $30 if you buy nosebleeds from the NCAA, but with a probably pretty low demand, anyone know if there's anywhere cheaper to buy them?
Michigan has announced ticket prices for the 2016 football season.
|Central Florida||Sept. 10||$55||$65||$75|
|Penn State||Sept. 24||$99||$110||$125|
|Illinois (Homecoming)||Oct. 22||$75||$90||$105|
I was surprised to see the price of Penn State and Wisconsin. I guess they're the best home games we have.
Compare this year with 2015:
|Oregon State||Sept. 12||$80||$90||$100|
|Brigham Young||Sept. 26||$80||$90||$100|
|Northwestern (HC)||Oct. 10||$75||$85||$95|
|Michigan State||Oct. 17||$95||$105||$115|
|Ohio State||Nov. 28||$95||$105||$115|
The repercussions of MSU winning this past Saturday in Columbus have seriously effected prices for The Game on Saturday. Last week tickets in Section 23 were mostly above $700/each. Earlier this morning they were starting at $325/each. I just checked again and you can get some really good seats in Section 23, row 43 for $280 (I am not selling them BTW).
Of course this still beats last year's game against Maryland when I saw seats as low as $37/each in Section 23. We will never see that price again (Harbaugh) but the prices for this weekend are coming down to almost face value (seat + PSL).
MLive had a story yesterday on this that almost seems out of date today:
You have to register an account with PSU athletics, you don't get to see specific seat numbers before you purchase, BUT I was able to pull multiple tickets in the top three price ranges without an issue.
Thought this might be forum thread worthy, if not mods feel free to delete.
I bought a pair of UM/Utah tix on Stubhub on April 22nd for $122 per ticket in section N23, north endzone. They were about half of what similar tickets were going for at that time. I had a feeling that the seller knew he left money on the table so I would probably never see those tickets.
In preparation for that scenario I contacted stubhub the day I bought them to find out about their policy. They told me that I would be guaranteed comparable or better tickets if I didn’t receive my tickets on September 1st. I secretly had hoped to never receive the tickets after I was explained the policy.
Fast forward to….. today. As of this morning I had still not received a UPS shipping confirmation email from stubhub. And when I walked out to the front of my house the UPS driver just happened to pull up, weird. He was delivering a box to my neighbor so I took the opportunity to explain the situation. He told me that he did not see any deliveries going to my address today, and that if I was to receive a delivery from UPS he would be the driver.
So I decided not to wait until close of business today in order to get the replacement process going. I called Stubhub and after a bit of a wait I got a customer service person that was very helpful. I explained everything to him including the UPS driver confirming that I was not going to receive any shipments today.
Jumping ahead I received a phone call from Stubhub after maybe 4-5 hours. The lady asked me if I was ok with a pair of replacement tickets in section E36 about 40 rows up, or basically midfield between the 40s. I told her that was fine. Comparable tickets at midfield are going for $660 today.
I am absolutely dumbfounded that the seller would choose to not send me the tickets and be on the hook for over $1,000 in penalties.
I know tickets/stubhub are discussed frequently so I thought my story might be of interest to the board. Looking very forward to the game, even more now which I didn’t think was possible.
One more note, Stubhub is going to set up a temporary ticket pickup at the SLC Marriott University Park, which I believe is where a few mgobloggers are staying.
