landing spot. will be interesting to see how he does.
Bovada has us at 12-1 odds to win the NC next season, third behind Alabama and Clemson.
It’s all just numbers and notions and rankings right now, but at least we have more football evidence than a year ago. Ohio State and Michigan State will remain near the top, we’ve seen enough to say that. If there’s a notable gap between them and Michigan, no one’s seeing it or saying it anymore.
Yes its a long shot but this is IMO Michigan's most liklely path to the playoff:
- UM over OSU
- PSU over MSU
- Iowa over Nebraska (they can't lose this)
- UM over Iowa
- Clemson over UNC (concede spot 1 to Clemson so that UNC isn't a threat)
- Ok St over Oklahoma (think 2 loss Michigan can get in over 1 loss Ok St..at least more likely than 1 loss OU)
- TCU over Baylor
- Alabama should probably beat Florida too unless Florida loses to FSU. I could easily see them taking 2 loss Bama over UM to get 2 SEC teams in there.
ND vs Stanford is interesting. I think they could get in both ways, but it would be harder if ND won. I think the strength of Michigan over OSU/Iowa is bigger than Stanford over ND/P12S champ. Plus Northwestern is a common opponent and we know how that worked out for both teams.
Do we have a possible perfect storm coming up to get that needed help? Let's look at a few item for MSU/PSU:
PSU O vs MSU D:
Last night the wind may have protected the MSU secondary from being exposed. PSU's most successful play and biggest talent is at QB and had good receivers. Can PSU throw on MSU and get a lead? (insert comment on the strength of the MSU D line here)
MSU O vs. PSU D:
MSU isn't a rushing juggernaut. Cook may still be out. Can MSU generate offense against a stout PSU defense? PSU D can generate turnovers.
No spread yet. It's gonna be exciting!
The gist of the article is that our defense is awesome and MSU isn't that good.
The Big Ten sets up well for Michigan this year, with three home games against Northwestern, Michigan State and Ohio State. And given how Ohio State has played on offense thus far, that game is also not projecting to be quite as lopsided as it did in the preseason.
EDIT: MSU not that good?
So I don't know what Sports Cheat Sheet is, but they have an article up listing the 5 reasons why we're going to win the B1G Title this year. As they're saying things I want to hear, they are obviously a credible website staffed with smart people.
Spoiler alert: Three of the five reasons listed are HARBAUGH.
