Coaches' timeouts are worse. Basketball teams should get one, full stop.
According to a pro scout's report in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Hyde’s Wonderlic score was 9. Given that 10 is the minimal literacy level, you wonder who Carlos has to thank at Ohio for his great academic achievement. Maybe he can credit Urban Meyer, who was so tough on Carlos.
Once, Meyer kept Carlos out for two whole plays after an unspecified “academic infraction”. Oddly, Hyde’s performance turned out to be “the third-best rushing performance in Ohio State history.
Meyer said about Carlos “"He's fine. He has been great and I expect him to be great again. I have no problem with Carlos….(but) "Academically our guys are held to a certain standard,"
Since a 9 score on the Wonderlic does not meet the standard for basic literacy (10), you have to wonder what exactly was the standard of Meyer and Ohio . (think North Carolina)
In a recent Gallup poll on "The Happiest States in America," Ohio came in at 46th. Of course, no one at mgoblog is surprised by this.
Michigan came in at 37, so we can't crow about it too much, I guess. Perhaps the situation in Detroit and surrounding environs had an impact? One of the indices, work environment, was a strong factor in North Dakota (my state of birth!) coming in number 1. Interestingly, many of the states in the lowest quintile were in the deep South and the land of the SEC (i.e., Alabama, Kentucky, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Tennessee.) It is an enjoyable light read if you're interested in that kind of thing.
So I guess Ohio was pretty confident they were going to win last night... So much so they had these placed on the windshields of all cars parked at Lucus Oil Stadium.
Edit: Photo not embedding...
I was thinking about the fact that if OSU beats Michigan this weekend, how could they get into the MNC game? I don't see FSU losing to Florida and they are set to play Duke in the ACC Championship, also can't see a loss. So Alabama needs to lose to Auburn or in the SEC Championship, both of which is possible.
BUT.... if Auburn beats Alabama and then goes on to beat a #4 or #5 Missouri in the SEC Championship, would they jump OSU in BCS standings?
IIRC, the ring was posted on eBay previously, and either didn't sell or the original "winnig bidder" sold it for a loss?
Sold for the asking price, $16,449.
Well, there's not much to say about this, but that Ohio's halftime show this week is much better than our commercial last week.
