Here are your unofficial Michigan free agency signings, for our boys who missed out on draft day, but will still look to earn an NFL paycheck (except Carson Butler, who will undoubtedly be cut after releasing a terror-spree the nerdy denizens of Wisconsin).
Full (and still unofficial) list can be found here: http://www.nepatriotsdraft.com/2009/04/2009-undrafted-free-agent-signing...
Will Johnson - Ravens
Brandon Harrison - Colts
Tim Jamison - Texans
Doug Dutch - Redskins
Sean Griffin - Seahawks
Carson Butler - Packers
Here's hoping these undrafted guys impress enough to crack the roster.
Well I was content with the lions picks so far. That was untill they just picked up Aaron Brown. He wasn't that good when he was at TCU that I know of. His stats aren't amazing. This is the pick that confuses me from Detroit. Your defense is the worst in the league (Pretty sure thats right anyways), yet you decide to draft a RB. I don't get it. He may be a fine RB, but you could use anything on defense pretty much. Anybody with me on this?
Trent to the Bengals with the 179th overall pick. 6th pick in the 6th round.
Has anybody heard anything about where any Michigan players rank in the upcoming draft? Terrance Taylor, Morgan Trent, Tim Jamison I assume will all be drafted... what are their projections?
Sports Illustrated has an interesting look at Don Banks first round NFL mock draft and seeing where Rivals ranked those players when they came out of high school.
Six players ranked #1 at their position from 2005 and 2006 (three from each year) are expected to be drafted in the first round, but so are a lot of two-, three-, and four-star recruits. There's even one zero-star. Thus showing once again that recruiting five-star players isn't the be all and end all, though getting a player who is ranked #1 at his position certainly has its benefits.
McShay released his 7 round mock draft today (I think) and here are where he sees Michigan players getting drafted:
Terrence Taylor: Round 4 Pick 7 (107 overall) - Jacksonville Jaguars
Morgan Trent: Round 7 Pick 24 (233 overall) - Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Will Johnson: Round 7 Pick 30 (239 overall) - Tennessee Titans
I think Will Johnson going to the Titans would be great because Tennessee is known for making defensive lineman better. I believe the defensive line coach didn't follow Schwartz to Detroit (damn, I wish he did).
