...says Denzel Valentine of Big Ten Tourney favorite MSU, which is 5-7 in its last 12 games. Cumong, man.
From College Hockey News
Western College Hockey Blog has a good summary why this is not smart.
This change moved Michigan up from #6 to #5. Notre Dame is tied for 7th. Western is up to 10th (!), Miami at 16th, Alaska at 18th, OSU and Ferris are tied at 24th.
Basically, the ranking's Teams Under Consideration comparision has been expanded from the top 25 RPI teams to all teams with an above .500 RPI. To put that in perspective...Michigan State is now a TUC...wow.

The volleyball team was swept in the opening round of the NCAA tournament last night at the hands of #11 Washington. The #23 Wolverines were missing Alex Hunt due to an injury, and adding more youth to an already young lineup didn't help Michigan's cause.

The CCB released their tourney projection with Michigan headed to Louisville:
1. Louisville (7)
3. Michigan *
4. Toledo *
This is a pretty tough region, and I'm sure Vandy would love to get some payback on Alan Oaks in the opening round. For those that need a reminder,
The Commodores aren't nearly that good this year, but rather in the 30s of the RPI, well above Michigan. Michigan has played both Toledo and Louisville, beating Toledo handily at home and losing 1-0 to Louisville against a Thomas Loshe. This was at the Big Ten / Big East Tournament, the first weekend after losing Ryan LaMarre. Our offense was atrocious, but then again, Louisville wasn't hitting quite as well then either. A rematch would be awesome.
To get to that though, we've got to win the Big Ten Tournament. Minnesota preview/WMU wrap due out tomorrow.
I take nothing that ESPN says to mean anything when it comes to baseball, but on their College Baseball Blog, Jeremy Mills predicts Michigan to be the Big Ten auto-bid and gaining a 3-seed at the Fayetteville, AR regional.
- No. 3 Arkansas
- Kansas State
- Wichita State
File this under "so crazy it might work." No one, and I mean no one, can adequately predict how our conference season will end, much less the tournament that will decided the single bid coming to the conference. This is just the first time I've seen Michigan in ANY bracket prediction.
Beat the Buckeyes this weekend, and we may see a lot more of these.
With all of the bad press coaches have got for the way they treat their players lately, it was great to see what Huggins just did. In case anyone missed it, Butler's career is now in jeopardy when his knee buckled. Huggins then came out and essentially hugged him and said some things to him about 2 inches away from his face. People may not like his attitude sometimes with the media and such but you can't question how much he cares about his players.
