further adventures in Jed York being unsuited for his position
The Engineers take down the Wolverines at the Joe, 4-3. Michigan outshot RPI 46-14. Hogan gave up 3, Hunwick 1. Michigan battled back to tie it at 3 but couldn't take the lead. Team is now 9-10, plays Tech tomorrow at 4:30.
I couldn't find this mentioned yet, and it's worth a post:
UM and MSU are playing at the Joe on Saturday January 30th, tickets are still available (and extremely reasonable!) so if you're in the area, come help make it feel like home ice for Michigan.
Chris Brown got cut from the World Junior US squad on wednesday meaning no wolverines will be on the roster this year. I've only followed michigan hockey for 3 years now but apparently it's very rare for that to happen. maybe having our best guys back will help us get the 3-peat of the GLI. we could sure use the wins
Just wanted to wish Red a happy 70th birthday and share this article with the MGoBoarders:
One note which I think would be awesome:
Don't be surprised if the Michigan student section, seated by the Wolverines' bench, gives a high-spirited version of "Happy Birthday" to Red Berenson prior to the Michigan-Notre Dame game Friday night at Yost.
If this can be made to happen, I think it must. Signs and well wishes for Red on Friday, and hopefully a win!
Game is about to start. MGoBlue.com/icehockey has free audio and video. http://MichiganHockey.net is providing a Cover It Live chat live at the game. Go Blue!
Right now the team makes me want to gouge my eyes out. The offense has been so frustratingly bad, it feels like we're winning less than 25% of the faceoffs, and hogan has let in a ton of soft goals. I want to compare this to last year where we sleepwalked to a 9-7 start but we feel worse this year. Given, we did just play 3 straight ranked teams, but we don't usually play like that against ranked teams
