"The face of the operation is Briatore (referred to exclusively in the film by his colleagues and angry, chanting detractors as "Flavio"), an anthropomorphic radish who spends most of his time at QPR plotting to fire all of the managers."
I thought that this little "story" on Mental Floss (one of the greatest websites there is, by the way) might be of some interest to at least a good portion of folks here. I'm not from Michigan, nor do I live there, but I find myself there often enough in the fall.
Anyway...enjoy this distraction from the playing field for a few seconds.
More specifically, Oakland County, Waterford/West Bloomfield/Bloomfield/Farmington Hills area.
With the State game going on at the same time as ours, and the fact that we suck and they're good, I fully expect the turnout at these bars to be like 90% State fans 10% us. I'd prefer to watch the game somewhere there's not an overwhelming number of those mouthbreathers, and that will have the sound turned on to our game.
So far I called the Buffalo Wild Wings on 14 and Orchard Lake and they don't know what they're doing. They theoretically can split the sound but not sure how that would work in reality. They also have a back room so maybe if some other Michigan fans show up they can just throw us all back there.
Anyways, if anyone knows any better options that'd be super.
"He wasn't a highly-sought commodity, and his salary at San Diego had been $700,000. Brandon's crackerjack negotiating skills got Hoke for a bargain-basement price of just shy of $3 million a year. Mary Sue Coleman, then the university president, pulled down a bit more than $600,000, as the highest-paid president in the university's history."
The author goes on to quote Jonathan Chait: "I would really like to see an economics textbook try to explain the negotiating dynamic here."
I, for one, am going to the Michigan game this Saturday night; driving from goddamned Indiana tomorrow (yup, tickets purchased a LONG time ago...).
I have no clue what to expect. Win or lose, bleed maize and blue forever. My dad, brother, and I will be rooting like hell for the Wolverines. Though the season
may be is lost, the record books don't give a shit. Fuck ND, Michigan needs the highest win % back!!! / MichiganArrogance
Fuck. I am drunk. Sue me. GO DEVIN GARDNER. GO JAKE RYAN. SHIT, GO WILL HAGERUP! GO BLUE!!!!!!
MLive spoke with Don Canham's widow and it's obvious she's not happy with what's happening at Michigan.
Recently, the widow of the “father of modern college athletics directors” has begun to add her voice to the chorus expressing concern that the powerhouse built by Canham is in jeopardy of losing its luster.
“I’m just devastated that his lifetime at the school—he was there for 50 years as a student, a coach and an athletic director—to see that his legacy is going down the drain, that’s what I’m angry about,” Margaret Canham-Keeley said.
It's worth a read to see that even Canham, who was an innovator his time, got some pushback but obviously ended up being a pioneer as an athletic director.
MSU loses soundly; OSU losing soundly; we are trounced. Elsewhere, B1G teams lose or sneak past weak small-conference squads. The onslaught from the critics is going to be merciless tomorrow. I'm not sure there's been a weekend this humiliating that I can remember.
I can't believe I am rooting for an OSU miracle at this late hour to salvage the conference's reputation.
