"The University of Illinois is also in turmoil. The university sports an Interim Chancellor, an Interim Athletic Director, and an Interim Football Coach; the game will be played at Soldier Field, making this an Illini Interim Home Game."
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — The new president of Ohio State University and supporters of the school's storied marching band are clashing over the unexpected firing of a band director with deep roots in the organization...
The band's powerful and well-funded alumni association challenges the findings against Waters...
The alumni group has launched its own review and enlisted some of its most iconic figures to try to get Waters reinstated.
They asked football great Archie Griffin, who leads the university's overall alumni association, to help them get a meeting with Drake but Griffin says he supports the university president's actions."
Slow day on the board and I saw this while browsing various blogs and thought it was worth a share, as IIRC we did something similar with the Wizard of Oz a few years back.
The premise is that the Michigan Martians (so thats where I put my giant maize and blue flag at) kidnap a Ohio cheerleader and then the band sets about on a journey to get her back....more than likely she's a blonde and Keith Stone says we only think about the brunette girls so nice try Ohio.
(if someone could embed, thanks in advance)
I know MMB people have asked people before for ideas for the 4th quarter song, and I would be shocked if no one had suggested this song. It seems like the percussion in the song should translate pretty smoothly to a marching band arrangement. I can see the whole student section singing along (your friends just sing along...),
Anyway, if this suggestion has been made, then add my signature to the nomination form. If no one has, then let's get on this MMB!
I just drove home for lunch and passed the local high school where the sound of marching band sent my football readiness status to DefCon 1.
I've seen the "21 days to.." posts and all the embedded images of practice, but nothing has gotten me amped up for the upcoming season and fall in general like hearing that marching band play just now (of course it helps that the weather is flat-out beautiful as I'm typing this). I'm curious, if there have been any subtleties for the rest of the MGOUsers, whethere its been College Football Live on the WWL or anything else that have made you feel like the presents are wrapped and under the tree...
Every offseason the Marching Band Director/Staff asks the current band members for suggestions for future shows. I don't have any suggestions that I'm particularly fond of this year, so I thought I would ask the MGOCommunity for suggestions. Basically what I need is a show title or "theme" and 3 or 4 songs that would actually be part of the show.
I'm counting on you guys to come up with some good ideas, I'm tried to hearing how the band doesn't play anything good.
EDIT: Of course, no guarantees that any suggestions will actually make it to the field, but I promise to propose them.
