MSU "Little Brother" Mantra likely not going to die
I didn't see this discussed yet, but a slight mention by Brian regarding this weekend's half-time show by the MMB got me thinking. As you may recall if you were in attendance, and not stuck in a line waiting for some stadium grub or a restroom, the MMB performed a pretty creative and funny show during the break of the NW game. I found the content relavent since we have debated several times on this blog about the necessity of some to continue to refer to MSU as "little brother". For all of the humor and back-and-fotrth that the matra has created over the past 5 years, it seems there are enough who wish it would just go away. The balance of power has been restored after this years win, and there is no logical evidence that suggests that Sparty will have another 4 game run like they enjoyed since Mike Hart graduated.
With all of that being said, it is fair to think that perhaps the moniker will not die. When the MMB uses it as a half-time feature to denigrate the school that's located "North until you smell it, West until you step in it", you know that it's use and understanding has escaped the control of the former players, current coaches, and casual fans of the rivalry. Evidenced by the laughing and obvious applause that the comments received by the crowd in attendance on Saturday, I think that, for better or for worse, it is now permanently part of the Michigan Football Lexicon. So, like Spartan Bob so famously started nearly a decade ago... let the debates begin.
Michigan gets Trolled by the Ohio Marching Band
Slow day on the board and I saw this while browsing various blogs and thought it was worth a share, as IIRC we did something similar with the Wizard of Oz a few years back.
The premise is that the Michigan Martians (so thats where I put my giant maize and blue flag at) kidnap a Ohio cheerleader and then the band sets about on a journey to get her back....more than likely she's a blonde and Keith Stone says we only think about the brunette girls so nice try Ohio.

Marching Band arrangement of Better Son/Daughter?
I know MMB people have asked people before for ideas for the 4th quarter song, and I would be shocked if no one had suggested this song. It seems like the percussion in the song should translate pretty smoothly to a marching band arrangement. I can see the whole student section singing along (your friends just sing along...),
Anyway, if this suggestion has been made, then add my signature to the nomination form. If no one has, then let's get on this MMB!
Ready for Football Season
I just drove home for lunch and passed the local high school where the sound of marching band sent my football readiness status to DefCon 1.
I've seen the "21 days to.." posts and all the embedded images of practice, but nothing has gotten me amped up for the upcoming season and fall in general like hearing that marching band play just now (of course it helps that the weather is flat-out beautiful as I'm typing this). I'm curious, if there have been any subtleties for the rest of the MGOUsers, whethere its been College Football Live on the WWL or anything else that have made you feel like the presents are wrapped and under the tree...
OT: What halftime shows do you want to see next year?
Every offseason the Marching Band Director/Staff asks the current band members for suggestions for future shows. I don't have any suggestions that I'm particularly fond of this year, so I thought I would ask the MGOCommunity for suggestions. Basically what I need is a show title or "theme" and 3 or 4 songs that would actually be part of the show.
I'm counting on you guys to come up with some good ideas, I'm tried to hearing how the band doesn't play anything good.
EDIT: Of course, no guarantees that any suggestions will actually make it to the field, but I promise to propose them.
