Team USA improved to 3-0 with a win over Germany 8-0 on Sunday, to move 5 points clear of second place Canada in Group A. This all but assures the American's of advancing to the playoff round.
In Michigan news, a scary moment yesterday when Germany's Leon Draisaitl (WHL- Prince Albert) hit Andrew Copp from behind. Draisaitl was given a 5 minute match penalty, and is supended from Germany's game today (12/30) vs. Czech Republic. Copp did return to the game after being on the ice for a few minutes. The video is below, play begins at about 1:44 minute mark.
In time of dearth and heartbreak
Beyond hockey's most desp'rate hour...
A boy became a man, one of our own
Who knew that 'round him, a program would wake?
A simple man, they tasked to stop
Yet they found emerged a hero
Not the hero we deserve, but the hero we need right now
A silent guardian,
A watchful protector
... A Captain ...
I believe in Andrew Copp.
Strong showing in his first regular season game.
