at least it's not just us?
For christ's sake, some of you negative nillies need to take a chill pill. Remember what our offense looked like with sheridan at the helm? And now we're rolling up 500 per week. Give the man a chance to get some freaking players in. He's a fine coordinator working with the equivalent of three or four sheridan's in the backfield and probably a couple other threets on the 2 deep.
What we need are players! We need to recruit better players! We need to keep them from transferring or declaring early when no one is going to draft them. We need to keep them busy and out of trouble with the law.
And you debbie downers are not helping by going overboat with your stupid "analysis" of the defense. The man has coached defenses to TWO Superbowl wins. WHAT THE F*** HAVE YOU DONE?
There has been a lot of progress with this defense. No, the numbers don't show it. But it's there if you look hard enough. And in another year or two it will be so apparent that you arseh0*es will owe everyone on this board, all of our potential recruits, and the entire football team a huge apology.
To any potential DB's out there, COME TO MICHIGAN! Charles Woodson, Leon Hall, Marlin Jackson, Ty Law, Etc, etc, etc all did and it was the stage for them to shine. We've got tons of playing time available for anyone who wants to come in and work hard. Please come to Michigan, just to shut up the idiots on this board.
MGoBlue.com has a running feature this season called "Field Pass with Richard Retyi" (Retyi works in the Athletics Media Relations Office and is Assistant Director of Media Relations - Multimedia (Women's Gymnastics, Football)).
This week's inside look provides some nice insights into in game coaching including how Bruce Tall and Greg Robinson reacted after the first defensive series resulted in a UMass 11-play drive and a field goal and what happens when Mike Barwis decides to have a little tête-à-tête with his charges. Also:
Associate athletic director for facilities Rob Rademacher is happy that the Big House still has that new stadium smell. He's got an All-Sport Access Pass, which three men in the world possess -- athletic director Dave Brandon, Rademacher and former Wolverine Tom Brady.
Seriously? Tom Brady? Doesn't the man already have enough?
Here's the link to the UConn game edition of "Field Pass". Still worth a look two weeks later.
Immediately following the game, I posted an inaccurate image to describe the game and asked for suggestions to make it more a propos .
BlueSeoul, Capitain, and others suggested ways to make the image more precise. Here is my effort.
AllinforDG suggested I put Gerg in the fetal position. Since I could make that work, he is shouting and pointing. Something I saw him do all day.
...until Obi Ezeh and the Michigan linebacker corps shows everyone what it means to be personally schooled by GERG and his fabulous hair.
I don't really want to discuss much the play of the defense. It is too soon and I'm not really in the mood to talk about the execution side of yesterday's game. However, I did notice some very strange formations out there at times.
For instance, IIRC Penn State lined up in a two wide set. Woolfolk was lined up at corner, Warren was lined up as safety on the same side and Ezeh was in man coverage against the other WR.
Seemed crazy to me. Anyone else notice this?
GERG did well with this adjustment. Troy played shut down ball. This allowed us to rush more (the TD on the blitz was a gamble on Mich's part...Williams was not going to cover Moeaki regardless).
Break out game by BG - I think in part because of the firmer secondary.
Yes Williams should have helped Warren on that bomb. But Woolfolk is the new CB. Please no injuries vs. Delaware State!!
