I'VE HAD JUST ABOUT ENOUGH OF YOU SONNY
I could probably do this on my own but I have no idea how to do so without a lot of google-fu. I was hoping that somebody might have a soundclip of Ufer saying "Touchdown Michigan". Nothing more. If anyone can help that would be greatly appreciated!
Just in case anyone isn't yet aware of this, you might want to tune in to WTKA on your transistor radio (or via the interwebs or smartphone) this Saturday from Noon to 3pm. WTKA is once again using the bye week to bring back the wonderful play-by-play of a MEEEEECHIGAN Classic, this one the 1979 Michigan vs, MSU game.
I'm sure we're all familiar with the highlight tapes and albums and CD's of those wonderful "Uferisms" old Bob used to spout, but listening to an entire game brings you to a whole new level of appreciation of this man's talents and enthusiasm.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
It is time to give up the Angry Michigan <Blank> Hating God thought process. After watching a ball in OT bounce perfectly off an Illinois defender's helmet such that Hemmingway had an easy catch, it is time to announce to the world that we believe our former issues were the work of the most evil. Bo and Ufer have finally gotten God's attention turned back on Saturday afternoons to focusing on keeping the evil Satan (who owns the soul of Jim Tressel and others who have sold out to him for his recent 2.5 years of abuse of our beloved football program) from screwing with us.
I suggest we now refer to Angry Michigan <Blank> Hating Satan in reference to placing the blame where it truly belongs and in keeping it well understood that those who hate Michigan are, in essence, EVIL!!!
A short psuedo-documentary about the last play of Michigan-Indiana in 1979, including Ufer's call. This is a part of a series on Ufer posted by YouTube user GhostsofMichigan.
"I've never been so happy, in all my cotton-pickin' fifty-nine years"
Anybody else catch the ESPN highlights of the Notre Dame game where the commentator says "Meeeeechigan, honk honk honk!" as a shoutout to Bob Ufer? I can't find the video, since they haven't put up game highlights on their site yet, but I thought it was a fitting tribute.
