Petway nails threes to death metal. Seriously.
NHL confirms 2013 Winter Classic will be at the Big House between the Red Wings and the Maple Leafs.
Source is XX1090AM in San Diego.
Detroit Sports Zone and others are attempting to verify.
@971theticketxyt just said various reports out about the Winter Classic at the Big House between the Wings and Leafs.
That could just be referring to everyone talking about it now though.
Sources tell me reports of winter classic in the big house are premature. No talks about event yet
That's the Michigan Daily senior editor and hockey writer.
Among NHL-insider circles, it is apparently a foregone conclusion that the 2013 Winter Classic will be hosted by Detroit.
The article linked here states that the NHL would love the opportunity to break 100k at the Big House, although hosting it there means sharing some of the revenue (and that isn't something in which Mike Illitch may be interested), so the event could still end up at Comerica Park.
Regardless of the final location, having the Red Wings host the Winter Classic can only be a good thing. They also mention a 'hockey celebration in Michigan' to go along with the GLI. Keep our fingers crossed for a Big House Winter Classic!
Michigan (no surprise) lead the nation in attendance at 112k per. 102% capacity. Good work, everyone.
A few other highlights:
TCU at 112% and Oregon at 109% lead by percent of capacity. Expand already, Oregon. Autzen's still only 59k. Nike stock just hit an all-time high last week, fergodsakes.
Big Ten with 3 of top 4, 5 of top 15, 7 in the top 21.
Sad trombone for Sparty's 98%. /cantgetnorespect
PSU's ticket strategy seemed to backfire with Beaver Stadium rounding out at 95% capacity, if not in lower total dollar revenue, then in percent of capacity they had at each game. 6 of the 7 games occurred pre-Sandusky and the one afterward was Nebraska, so the fingers seem to point at the new seating plan.
I know this isn't the right venue for this, but hopefully people are in a good mood from the game so I wont get reamed for this. Mods please feel free to delete if deemed unenecesarry.
I recently broke my foot, leading me to be on crutches for the foreseeable future. I didn't see anything on MGoBlue.com regarding crutches; all it says is " Exceptions for medical reasons will be addressed individually at the gates." The search function on this site wasn't working, so I couldn't check to see if this had been previously discussed. I have never seen anyone on crutches at the games, but I imagine with ADA rules, they have to be allowed.
Does anyone have any experience with this? I hope someone may have some info before I get to the game with the potential of being turned away.
For everyone who thinks this isn't a worthwhile thread, I apologize, and here's my favorite new .gif to make it worth your click.
Said I would post these following our win Saturday, so here they are. My brother, dad and I were fortunate enough to be invited to sit in a box for the game. I snagged a few pics using my phone, so excuse the quality. Overall it was an amazing experience, and I was very happy not to be caught out in the monsoon!
Big House outside
Going to the seats (first shot looking out of stadium from box level, second blurry on just the hallway leading in)
View from inside the box
Oh, hey Lloyd (he was in the box right next to us, someone bugged him and he was kind enough to come say hi)
Here are all the pictures I took before my phone died (DARN YOU SIGNAL AT BIG HOUSE!!). Some are players coming in, etc.
I was sort of happy with my night pictures of the scoreboard last night but not 100% happy, so I decided to stop by after work and get some more shots. There was quite a bit more activity because they were putting some final touches on the boards and there were some TV trailers set up for the game on Saturday. Anyways...
After the Stadium, decided to take a quick walk around the Arb.
