this week in unintentionally grim-sounding recruiting headlines
Well the first batch of "Ale to the Victors" is in the fermenter. This recipe is a cream ale which includes actual flaked maize. My thoughts are to have a cream ale and a pale ale at the UConn game this year for people to sample and decide on a winner. I'm still looking for help on designing a label, if anyone is interested. Hope to see you all at the opener! Go Blue!!
So I'm an avid home brewer and I need the help of the MGoBlog community. I want you to help me name my next beer. Your post should include 1)what kind of beer it should be 2) what to name it. The winner will receive a free case of it when it's done. (provided you are 21 years of age).
(EDIT) Winner is Zoltanrules with Ale to the Victors. e-mail me your contact info. firstname.lastname@example.org
Earlier, my wife drew herself a bubble bath, poured a glass of some crappy Arbor Mist wine cooler stuff, and acted very smug as she went in to enjoy herself with candles, a bubble bath, and a glass of wine. She acted as though she had hit some kind of jackpot, and I wasn't allowed to share the winnings.
Well, I wasn't having any of that. I may not be able to fit in the tub, and I may hate that Arbor Mist crap, but what I can do, is this: I popped myself a leinie's red and climbed into a hot shower, as smugly as I could, belting out some Kenny Logins.
She told me I broke like, five different rules. I said I'm writing a new rule book, baby! What's your take?
Too bad Bell's didn't make the cut, but beer is never OT. Two of the beers come from Dexter, Jolly Pumpkin Oro de Calabaza and Leelanau Good Harbor Golden Ale. If you haven't had them, they are both worth a shot.
I have recently starting making my own beer, and the first batch, an American Stout, went very well. I was thinking that I should brew some up for next season, and wanted to get the MGoCommunity's opinion on what brew to make. Something that speaks of renewal, youth, despair? Your comments appreciated.
As I'm celebrating a successful signing day with a cold brew, I was curious as to the favorite microbrews of the MGoBoard. Having gone to college in Grand Rapids, I'm partial to the West Michigan microbreweries such as Bells, Founders, New Holland, and Arcadia. What are your favorite beers?
My top 3:
1. Bells Oberon
2. Founders Centennial IPA
3. Bells Winter White
