OT: The "It's Way Too Early on Friday, But This Day Already Blows" What Are You Drinking Tonight Thread
Yes, I know it's the morning, but it's Friday, and my day already sucks! So what is everyone drinking tonight? I'm thinking a post-work sixer of Fat Tire will get me started for the Wings' and Spring Game tomorrow! Also, any big, cool tailgate ideas for tomorrow?
OT: Bell's to begin canning in 2012
Bell's Brewery to start serving in cans...
http://www.mlive.com/kalamabrew/index.ssf/2011/03/bells_brewery_inc_to_install_c.html
No idea if they'll put Oberon in a can, but it's so popular, I gotta believe they will. Seems to me the yeast at the bottom would be more difficult to get out of a can, maybe?
Of course, beer is best served in appropriate glassware. But between cans and bottles, I'll take the bottle every time. Unless only cans are available, in which case I will just shut up and drink.
OT-According to "Science", Sports Fans Drink...
Apparently some researchers have discovered that A) tailgaters are often drunk, and B) sports fans like to drink.
I don't know about you, but this was clear to me at age 15 or so, and without the benefit of a PhD. The follow on recommendation is something to the effect of "people should drink less at sporting events, but it isn't going to happen". F'in brilliant.
OT, BEER: Kirkland Signature Craft Brews
Since OT is okay again, I thought I would return to this forum's second favorite subject. As I sit tonight cleaning my old irons for selling (Rawlings Oversize Pure Gold, 3-SW, knicks and scratches but in great shape, $50 if interested), I am sipping on a Kirkland Signature Hefeweizen. It is very good.
For those unaware, Kirkland is Costco's in store brand, and unlike most in store brands, their stuff is usually just as good, if not better than the competition. So, when I saw that they were now selling beer, I decided to take a chance.
First, like most things Kirkland brand, it is EXTREMELY reasonably priced at about $20 for 24 longnecks. At about .90 cents per bottle, this beats out any other craft brew I've seen by a dime, and most by 25 or more cents. The 24 case came with 4 six packs of their four craft brews, Hefeweizen, Pale Ale, Amber Ale, and a German Style Lager.
Each is equally well represented, a good simple example of that type of ale or lager without having an exceptionally distinct character. The Pale Ale, for instance is very good with a pronounced bitter hopiness, but it is not a Bell's Two Hearted. For the cost, if you have a costco membership, you relly can't go wrong. Pricewise, it's closer to Bud, but drinking wise, it's closer to your favorite craft.
OT: Drink of Choice
Well today was a stone cold bummer. We lost. So what do we do now? I am for one drinking and watching other teams hoping for Shadenfreude to entertain me and writing on MGoBoard. Instead of another post about hiring, firing, and suicide, I thought we could have a thread on what we will be drinking tonight. We may find we can agree on alcohol.
So what are you having? Pics are welcome, especially for the more obscure drinks.
I will be having the following:
and
Drink on, be merry, talk about football, and turn on the spell checker....NA is also welcome. So whaddya having?!
