College football attendance at lowest levels since 2003
All of those empty seats we saw in a large number of non-Big House games this year were no mirage. College football attendance is at its lowest levels since 2003. It also seems that our students are not alone with respect to their attendance "issues" of the last few years.
I also thought this piece was relevant in view of yesterday's PSD increases noted on an Mgoboard thread.
Five of the six BCS conferences reported attendance decreases, and per al.comreporter Jon Solomon, the only exception -- the Pac-12 -- was an exception only because Cal left its temporary limited-capacity stadium setup in 2011 for its newly renovated Memorial Stadium.

Note - this was not OT because BIG football was discussed.
Visualizing College Football Attendance
Interesting page, lets you choose which schools to compare
http://www.datafy.me/analysis/college-football-attendance-2006-2011/
Takes attendance numbers from 2006-2011 and lets you see both average attendance per year as well as gross average attendance graphed vs. % of capacity. Of course the Big House is the Biggest House. We sell more seats than anyone, but the Horseshoe actually sells out more as a % of capacity. Lots of standing room in ohio?
Also, check out Penn State's numbers... and show them to Brandon before he actually prices out a bunch of fans.
QUICK MGoSurvey - Who will be attending games this year?
I created a quick onnline survey in hopes that you all will take about 30 seconds of your time to fill it out when you are able. I'm curious as to how many MGoMembers plan on attending at least one game this year compared to their age and distance from the Big House, in particular. I think the results will be interesting and I plan on publishing them in a Diary entry some time after everyone has time to take the survey. Link? Link:

Thanks in advance for participating.
Sorry in advance to those that get annoyed by survey solicitations (I'm usually one of those people but I love MGoSurveys for some reason).
No Record Attendance for MSU?
Noticed on MGoBlue boxscore that the attendance was listed at 113,065 for Saturday's game. How is it possible that the game against our in state rival did not top the mark of 113,090 for the dedication game against UCONN? Are they not counting the press box and everyone with credentials? I thought it was a no brainer that they would break 114,000.
Attendance Record Saturday?
So I was starting to think about the attendance for this game and how it might compare to the record setting game against UConn. I feel like we should be able to break it again as there could be more away fans than the first game. Is it possible to approach 115,000?!?!
This is a going to be a great game against a big rival (3rd biggest?), what does the MGoCommunity predict for numbers?
I say north of 114,000.
Cold War I attendance record broken
what good is breaking a world record when the new record is a lame duck anyway? very little, apparently. did anybody else notice that the opening game of the IIHF World Championship was played outdoors and broke the Cold War attendance record by about 3000? it doesn't really matter, since it's going to be CRUSHED by the Big Chill attendance, which has reached the "ticket freeze" at 100K. and they're planning to give every student with football tickets a seat on top of that. i'm thinking we might break the overall Michigan Stadium attendance record at this point. and i'm very excited about it.
so what is notable about that IIHF game? well, Jack Johnson played in it. has anyone got his comment on that experience, especially in light of the Big Chill coming up in December?
