I did not make this headline up
Nebraska will be wearing these against Wisconsin this year on Sept 29th.
Good thing they will be wearing these, that was one of the most difficult games to watch last year with all the red and white.
<meta>This is not a criticism of Rich Rodriguez.</meta>
Why does Rodriguez wear a white-and-blue polo shirt during the games? I realize he doesn’t choose the team attire, but has anyone sent Addidas the memo? Michigan’s colors aren’t white and blue.
Everyone agrees that the program will have at least some changes during the offseason. I’d like to suggest a fairly easy one: dress the head coach in the team’s colors. Is that so difficult?
This is probably more of a topic for the MGoBoard, but I can't put an image in a post there so it becomes my first Diary entry, mostly by default. Anyway, I was doing some photoshoppin' and, although the buzz on the new uniforms has mostly died down, I thought there would still be some interest in what our jerseys might look like in maize (since about 80% of people out there seem to think it's a foregone conclusion that the team will sport them at some point).
In my opinion, the jersey itself doesn't look so bad, but I don't think it would look that good in action. I never liked Cal's gold jersey/blue pants combo and the WV all-yellow uniforms are starkly reminiscent of a banana. Perhaps, after the Notre Dame game (the first time the new road unis will be worn in action), I'll work with the whole uniform, but, more likely, the presence of actual football will cause me to lose interest in such trivial matters as the uniform.
Note: the image is watermarked as "fake" not so much because of my own perceived photoshop prowess (anyone who takes a decent look can tell it's not real), but more because of my understanding that, the internets being the internets, these things tend to get out of hand; i.e.: "OMG! Michigan + RR = WVU, LOL", etc.
So I get an email from a buddy today who is perhaps the most rabid, yet sane, WVU fan I've ever met. He starts into me about the new Addidas uniforms, especially the road unis.
He starts ripping on them because "they look like WVU's" road togs, and also look like Cal. He said a few other things of course pertaining to Rich Rodriguez that you could probably figure out.
Well, I guess this is to be expected. Of COURSE Rich Rod would want to look JUST LIKE the shop he came from, right? I mean things went SO well that he can't help but WANT to remember all of that! And I'm sure he had DIRECT input when these were designed and the contract changed from NIKE to Addidas. BTW, WVU and Cal use NIKE. So maybe Addias is guilty of ripping off NIKE! We have a crime here!!! Or not.
He even ripped on the home unis, which I can't figure out since they look pretty much the same as the ones before. I read about the "stripes" but I couldn't even see them.
It's better than the gold-on-gold "ensemble" WVU wore in the game against Pitt. Whoops! Shouldn't say that too loud around here! Remember? Rich Rod threw that game so he could sweep into A2. How could I forget? LOL!
Anyhow, as long as M doesn't wear Maize on Maize I don't care. And if that's the biggest criticism left over, then I'm fine with that too. It must mean real football season is getting closer!
