Carr 1995, 31-23 (#12 UM vs #2 OSU in AA)
Moeller 1990, 16-13 (#15 UM vs. #19 OSU in Cbus)
Bo 1969, 24-12 (#12 UM vs. #1 OSU in AA)
Eilliot 1959, 23-14 (NR vs. NR in AA)
Oosterbaan 1948, 13-3 (#1 UM vs. NR OSU in Cbus)
Crisler 1938, 18-0 (#17 UM vs. NR OSU in Cbus)
- Kipke breaks this reverse-streak with his 0-7 loss in 1929.
Buckeye coaches, on the other hand, have not done as well. Of their last six coaches only two have won in year one (Tressel in ‘01 and Earle Bruce in ‘79.) The others, Cooper, Woody, Fesler, and Bixler (Bixler only coached one year) all lost.
Another important note: two of those six UM victories were pretty big upsets. Carr in ‘95 and Bo in ‘69. In each of those years the highly-ranked Buckeyes were expected to dispatch of their struggling, re-orienting rivals on route to the National Championship. I wonder what the story will be this year.
(P.S. I posted this originally on the e-hovel my friends and I 'maintain' at www.bigtenfans.com)
Okay, who is as excited about the upcoming season as me? I honestly can't remember the last time that I was so pumped about the first game of the year. Maybe it's the unanswered questions that undoubtedly WILL be answered on Aug 30. It could be, because, for so long we've waited for Michigan to ditch the conservative "run, run, pass" mentality and actually use the abilities of the ahtletes they have. All I know is, the first game is 2 months away and I'm counting the days. I've found myself reading this blog and checking other news sources several times a day and I just can't get enough. Let me know what all of your thoughts are, on the upcoming season.
P.S. Brian, the "All Your Coach Are Belong To Us" shirt, is hilarious. I will be buying one in the near future.
The theme is played-out, but this video is the only thing I've got worth posting. It's my Michigan Football version of the NBA's mildly intriguing "Where Amazing Happens" advertising campaign.
