State jacks up ticket prices for UM game
They're increasing the max ticket prices to 70 bucks from 46. If they're going to do that, Kent State and Indiana tickets should probably be around 20. Wait, I forgot we were talking about the Spartans. Those will probably be nailbiters.
Chow gone
Praise Jesus. Norm Chow will now be filleting NFL defenses instead of Markus Curry. Will it seriously hurt USC? Well... probably not too much. They have no Pac-10 peer and they've got a billion five-star recruits. It can't help, though, and maybe without Chow USC wouldn't have pulled out that Stanford game or the Cal game.
Omaha! Feel the excitement!
So, you may be asking yourself, "Self, I wonder what there is to do in Omaha?" Stop doing that. Everyone thinks it's annoying.
Anyway, apparently the answer to your question is "very little," as the following shows. (Stolen from Mavpuck.)

Note: mgoblog is not responsible for any seizures caused by the above post.
Note B: For any hyperesensitive Nebraskans who stumble across this post in between harvests or milkings or badger rodeos or whatever: I'm joking. Your fine state undoubtedly has much to do within its vast, flat emptiness. Also, Charles Woodson would have kicked your ass.
Grinders return
The Daily reports that Brown and Rohlfs will return this weekend. A little boost for an important road series against UNO. Reilly Olson will obviously return to the pressbox, but I wonder if Charlie Henderson (scored a goal against MSU) will finally move ahead of Woodford (assisted on a goal against Michigan) and get some more playing time.
I know that he's not the defensive player that Woodford is, but you put him out there and he scores goals, gives all out effort, and oh, doesn't throw the puck up his own middle with 2:30 remaining in a game. Or take dumb penalties. With Brown and Rohlfs back the team can afford to give up a little size. Charlie Henderson for President!
Update: I forgot about this little beauty of a line: "Rohlfs was tested for mono around the same time Brown was. After feeling sick for a couple weeks, Rohlfs looked up his symptoms on the Internet." I hereby offer up the official Michigan Hockey Player Medical Diagnosis Website.
Stolen 2006 Recruiting Links
"US" on Winged Helmet posted a set of useful links for potential 2006 recruits.
- Derek Brighton is probably the state's top corner, but his brother goes to State. Probably won't end up here.
- PA linebacker Jeremiah Hunter, a likely top-100 player, freely admits that Michigan is his clear leader.
- Michigan is recruiting WA WR/DB Taylor Mays. Wouldn't look for Michigan to recruit many WRs next year, and Mays is probably a WR in college at 6'3", 210.
- You can see KY DE Micah Johnson squatting 505 in this thread, if that's your thing.
Also, I don't bet on sports but... Illinois -15? Um. Is that the first half?
Stewie calls out the Big Ten

"Your pathetic excuse for a major conference sickens me!"
I wish I could disagree. Indiana dropping off the face of the earth has really hurt... Michigan hasn't been any good for years. All it would take is a couple programs picking themselves off the mat to turn things around. Illinois, Wisconsin, and MSU make a good trio but two more teams need to find themselves some consistency before the Big Ten will be respectable again. The good news is that if Michigan gets a clue there are NCAA bids for the taking.
Now, about that clue...
