Michigan Women's Tennis is a 3-seed and defeated Chicago State and Notre Dame last weekend in the regional here in AA. Now we face #22 YTM Hurricanes in the sweet 16 in another home match.

Free Admission and it's rowdy! come on out and cheer on the Wolverines!

Personally I really like watching Piper Charney play, she is really fun! Kari Miller (pronounced CAR-ee) is our top player,  ranked the #5 singles player in the NCAA, and is a townie - she went to Pioneer and trained at Liberty Athletic Club under former Wolverine star and touring pro Dan Goldberg.

This year's team is elite, check out these stats (link):

• Michigan has won 20 consecutive matches, tying the program record set during the 2015 season. Dating back to a 4-1 win over NC State on Feb. 22 to kick off the streak, Michigan has five wins over ranked teams and surrendered just 13 points to its opponents.

• U-M has won a school-record 28 matches, topping the previous record of 26 set during the 2016 season as U-M advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament for the first time.

• Michigan has won 17 matches at the Varsity Tennis Center, the most in a single season in program history. It tops the 16 wins Michigan had during the 2011 season.

Piper Charney enters the NCAA Tournament on an 18-match winning streak, compiling a 35-8 overall singles record and a 24-3 record in dual matches. Her 33 wins rank ninth in Michigan's single-season history. She has the second-most wins as a freshman in program history, trailing just Brienne Minor's 36 wins during her freshman season in 2016.

Kari Miller is 30-7 overall in singles and 15-4 at No. 1. She is up to 93 career wins, becoming just the 13th Wolverine in program history to reach 90 wins. With her two wins over the weekend to help Michigan advance out of the NCAA Regional, she is tied for 10th on Michigan's career wins list.

• In the latest ITA rankings, Michigan has six ranked singles players in Miller (No. 5), Julia Fliegner (No. 28), No. 57 Gala Mesochoritou, Lily Jones (No. 78), Charney (No. 113) and Bayley Sheinin (No. 118). Miller and Jaedan Brown are ranked No. 9 in doubles.

The rest of the team tournament, as well as singles and doubles championships will be held in Stillwater OK soon, and the Pokes are ranked #1. Tough road ahead if we win tomorrow.
